Relax, she probably won't pee, and if you take her to the potty before you let her be diaper free for a while so she can pee first. Then stick to the hard floor, and take her to the potty every so often.

We used elimination communication for potty training, and babies CAN use the potty, as they are born with the bladder control, but its lost over time being in a diaper. So if you take her to hte potty she will likely go, and then you have some time to relax. :) And stick to hard floors, easy to clean up if she does pee.

This may be just one of those many times where you will have to keep an extra forty eyes on her. I know its a bummer. And she probably will pee, but the doctor is right. My daughter had the worst rashes and i had to do it all the time. I remember how annoying it was! Good luck!

Just wanted to make a note that if you used cloth diapers you wouldn't be able to re-sell them after they've been in contact with any kind of rash cream. It causes them to repel liquids unless you strip them and even then it doesn't always work.

You could try small padded training pants to catch the bulk of it if she pees. They would breathe better than a disposable diaper.

Eh - I've had to do this several times with my daughter. They pee, sure... It's a busy day with spot cleaning, but not a huge deal really. Keep her in the kitchen with pots and pans to bang as long as she's happy there. Put a towel in her high chair so she can be naked when she eats... Those kinds of things.

Yikes! I don't know an answer to your actual question, but in case your doc didn't tell you, a bath in baking soda can help lower acidity and get a rash to heal a little more quickly.

During nap time would be one option, if you have a waterproof mattress pad and put towels down. You could also use cloth diapers that are loosely pinned on. Less of a mess, anyway. Playing outside might be a good idea too. Are there toys you have that interest her for a little while where she is lying on her back? Or sitting up?

I let mine play outside. Then we did finger painting in the tub. You will be surprised how long they will play in a tub without the water. then of course when they pee, then you have easy clean up. I also put down a huge blanket on my carpet and then when she went, I could wash the blanket right away. I was tired & exhausted, but it did help. Best thing I found though was to get a hairdryer that blows with no heat and use it faithfully to dry her bottom quickly after each pee. My daughter thought it a game & would laugh & laugh. I would put my daughter in her crib with toys and just let her play for about 20 to 30 min at a time. Let her go longer if she's not getting fussy. Just wait until she has a wet diaper and then let her go bare butt for a while in her crib. It really is the best and quickest way to clear up the rash. And you know what, when I did this she never even peed. :)

put her in the yard outside and give her a little while unprotected but you dont have to do it all day. ps if its a yeast infection cut her off of juice till she clears up. Mine is still off of juice. he had a "bad diaper rash' that would keep coming back for a year and a half. he has been off juice for 3 month no rash for 3 months. at all. put a blanket under her outide if you wish. too keep her from eating the grass and twigs. dont use plastic though it could suffocate her quick before you know whats happening.

I'd suggest just cheap flat cloth diapers that you can pin on. Don't use a plastic cover and just change her the second she wets. It'll keep the mess under control and probably cost you about the same or less than buying a mattress cover. Then the diapers can be resold. At $2 a diaper or less it won't break the bank.

I let my daughter go without her diaper for about 20 minutes after I take a diaper off, so her tushy get soem fresh air. If you have just changed a diaper, chances are that she wont have to pee agin for at least 20 mins or so.

put a pair of panties on her that should help that's what i did and it worked great

My oldest daughter had the worst diaper rash many times! She was a walker at that point (13 months) and we just let her run around the house after her bath.... carpet and all. Bottom line is that over the years you will clean up lots of pee, poo and vomit, so I wouldn't sweat it.
We just kept watch over her and when she would pee we would clean it up right away. We would say things like "oh no you went pee pee on the floor" and kinda make a game out of it and talked about going on the potty. However I am sure yours is too young for that.
I would say try and keep her in one area with baby gates, so you can watch her and just put toys out ect and that way you aren't cleaning up all over the house.... Perhaps even put her in the kitchen since that most likely doesn't have carpet.
The fresh air works SO well!!! Also not sure what your weather is like, but we had her run around naked outside on the grass as well. We set up a kiddie pool and she just loved it.

Not only does that sound sick to me, but one time my daughter got her diaper off and there was pee and poo everywhere. She did sleep in it, but it was all over her bed and her, so avoid that if you can. Just seems yucky to do on purpose to me!!

Try using puppy pads--we used to put these under my daughter for her naked time before bath, and they worked great.

Let her play in an empty bath tub for awhile. If it's too cold, put a towel down for her. Aveeno has a colloidal oatmeal bath mix that is very soothing to irritated skin. You can also put a towel down over a plastic table cloth to protect your carpets. You'll get through this!

Let het go outside if it's warm enough with just a dress or a top on. The sunshine is actually good for healing the rash as well.

Take some toys and books into the bathroom where she'll be on (presumably) tile floor. Accept the fact that she'll probably pee everywhere, but it's for her own good. Each diaper change try to get in the habit of spending as long as you can stand it playing in the bathroom with her bare-bottomed. Good luck!

I'm sure many people will disagree, my Daughter only had 1 diaper rash, When we were home she never had a diaper on, I did however pick up all the carpets. She actually learned how to potty train herself because she would feel herself going and she would even squat down alittle. Yes it was messy but she never had to deal with a painful rash (she also has exzema).
The more she can have fresh air the better. If you can after a bath let her airdry for at least 1/2 hour that would be helpful.

Did your doctor say how long she should be without a diaper? She could sit in her exer-saucer with a diaper under her. You could put her in her bed, after all , all the bedding can easily be changed, for her nap without a diaper. And you could try just relying on the ointment. By the way, you can buy inexpensive generic hydrocortisone and athlete's foot creams, mix them together in your palm, and use them as soon as that angry red rash shows up the next time. Getting at it right away should elliminate its getting severe and needing to go without a diaper.

Maybe look into doing some part time Elimination Communication. We do this with my son since he was 5 weeks old and I haven't had a poopy diaper since he was 4 months old and he is diaper free most the day now!

I would leave the diaper off at night. I did that with my daughter and she was fine in no time. Also keep it off during naps. You do a lot of laundry, but your daughter won't sleep in a wet spot. She'll move to a dry area of her crib/bed. Good luck.

I have a faux wood floor in my kitchen and we just let our daughters play in there. Yes it is gross but I can only imagine how much a diaper rash hurts. I am sure the ammonia in her pee really burns. I have been through this plenty of times and it really helps them. Good luck and I hope she gets better.

If you have wood floors, then it is pretty easy. But if you have carpet, I would get big paint plastic drop clothes and put them out across the entire room for a few days and yes she will pee but it will be easy to clean. Also if you have a garden, with the weather being nice, some hours outside would be good. Good luck.

I took a lot of toys into the bathroom, and we hung out there most of the day. It was just an easier clean-up.

lay down some towels in an area where you can contain her - you can buy a blow up pool and use that, use baby gates, arrange furniture or whatever works in your house to make an area that you can contain her.

Put the towels down on the ground give her some toys and let her play butt exposed. I have done this with daycare kids occassionally when their diaper rash was the bleeding type. I rarely have had any poop or pee randomly honestly while bare butt.
