3 Year Old with Peeling Skin on Toes

Hello,
I have a 3 year old son who has peeling skin all over his toes and both feet. It looks like a bunch of blisters. At first I thought it might be athlete's foot but the more research I've been doing I'm not so sure anymore. The don't seem to be irritating or uncomfortable to him. They also are not red or cracking. I plan to call the doctor tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone has a clue what it might be or what I should do in the meantime. Thanks.

What can I do next?

It could be a form of athlete's foot. I had something similar for years when I was little. It was horrible, not always bubbly skin for this. Another thing it could be is sweating and rubbing against the front of the shoe. One of my girls has this problem when the weather starts to get warmer. I make her take off her socks once in the house and wash her feet. Also, air out the shoes.

I think it could be a form of athletes feet. My daughters feet do this too. Try soaking in vinegar or applying hydrocortisone or an anti fungal ointment.
Good luck

My son has had this for years. It's much worse in the warmer months. My son's doctor told me they can't get athlete's foot till their hormones come in. He recomended a Good foot powder to absorb moisture in his socks and tennis shoes. Hikers use this powder to keep their feet dry. I also use a good thick lotion on them at night. When he gets out of the bath, make sure he drys his feet well. The key is to get rid of the moisture his feet are in all day. This has helped my son a lot!! I only have my son wear tennis shoes and socks when he absolutely has to. This helps keep his feet dry and not so trapped with moisture. Also they make those sneaker/sandals that help with air flow if your son must have closed toe shoes. Good Luck!

If he does have blisters, you may want to also check for a low grade fever. My son just went through a bout of Hand Foot and Mouth. The symptoms are low grade fever, blisters in their mouth, on their hands, and on their feet. There is no medicine to give them, but it is highly contagious to other children if they have the symptoms. I would get him checked just in case. If thats not what it is, he may just have really sweaty feet, and in his shoes they get 'wet' with sweat and his skin is to soft to take it. Good Luck!

My son has the same thing. It is from his feet sweating. Almost like the pruney stuff that happens to fingers and toes in the bathtub. I put him in really breathable socks and it seems to help.

My almost three year old son had the same thing. I thought it might be athlete's foot (most likely swimming pool area) and looked online for some options. I bought Lamisil and applied it at morning and at night. After two days it was totally gone.

Hi.....I'd just call your doctor to run it by them. My son had this problem but on his fingers and palms and it was from strep and had to be treated with an antibiotic. Better safe than sorry!

V.,
My son had that and the podiatrist prescribed a liquid antipersperant. I didn't like the idea of using that on broken skin. So I tried the Shaklee baby lotion. It was gone the next day. If you are interested in this, let me know.

Hey, I work with a company that sells natural products, and they have a great lotion and soap that's really easy on the skin. It's possible that your son has some sort of allergy to the soaps that he's using, or maybe the chemicals are just to harsh in it. I love all of the products, if you're interested check out my website www.livetotalwellness.com/joycita Good luck!
