i have made it to 36 weeks with my twin boys i am soooo miserable and soooo sick of being pregnant. i really feel like it will never end!! i know its good for the babies for me to still be pregnant, but honestly. my dr has scheduled me for c section on march 10th, both babies are breech so i have to have a c section which i really didn't want to have to do. so i do actually have an end date, but that is past 38 wks. march 10th seems sooooo far away! i guess i thought this whole time while i have been pregnant with twins that i just wouldn't go that far. i hear so many stories of twins being born before then that i was thinking that would be me. has anyone else gone that far with twins? and i need to hear some good c section stories, i had a great vaginal delivery with my now 2 yr old and am really terrified of the recovery from a c section. thanks for letting me vent i needed that tonight :)

What can I do next?

I have twins 3 yr old boy and girl twins. The good news is once the babies come. You will forget this part really easily. You are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

I have a friend who says it was much worse to be pregnant with twins than to be the mother of twins. It'll be over sooner than you think.

As far as the c-section goes, the important thing to remember is to rest so you heal correctly. I did too much with my first and ended up with an infected incision, which can mean more surgery. I skip the pain meds since I don't feel like doing too much then. Obviously, you need them in the hospital, but once you're home you can skip them. Also, take as many days in the hospital as your doctor and insurance allow. Recovery won't be bad since you don't have to do labor and a C-section. I recovered from the second one (scheduled) with no problem and never missed the pain meds.

GL with you little ones!

Hi,

WHATEVER you decide to do.... DO NOT have the babies turned!! That could risk the lives of both babies, and you!! You risk cord wrapping and also uterine rupture. DONT RISK THAT. I had a c-section 2 yrs ago, and let me tell you... I AM SO GLAD that I didnt have to endure labor. The recovery is a breeze once they take the staples out, usually around 4-7 days after delivery. I hated the pain meds cuz they made me super loopy... so I quit taking them against docs orders and I felt much better without them. TO be totally honest, I would do it again in a heartbeat. My daughter was also breech and delivered c at 38 wks. GOOD luck to you, and don't be scared, its not very bad. They give you a med in your spinal that makes you feel awesome for 24 hours. You will have NO pain at least that long, and the next week or so is just like normal surgery. They keep you pretty pain free. Also, you heal very quickly. I have NO scar and my baby is 2, well 2.5 really. God Bless you.

Have you tried talking to your doctor about things to see if you can help get the babies to turn so you won't have to have a C-section? Do some research on the internet - Optimal Fetal Positioning.

This is SUCH a tough time in pregnancy, but you are almost there...soon you'll get to see your sweet babies for the first time! And, ah yes, then you will get to sleep on your back again, touch your toes (and see them as well!), walk without waddling...and not have to pee every 1/2 hour. You are almost there. I know you probably know this already from your first pregnancy, but in these coming weeks, take it easy on yourself. You need to rest as much as possible and build up your mental and physical energy. Have someone look after your other child for an afternoon or two or three so you can nap, read a book, have a little walk, whatever soothes you. Get a little pedicure, they're good for the circulation (I went to spas that didn't also do acrylic nails with all those nasty smelling chemicals...). Rejoice, rejoice, you're almost there. Sending good thoughts your way.

OMG! I am in the same situation. Almost 36 weeks.....Hospitalized for 12 days (just got out) at 34 wks for preterm labor and they dis EVERYTHING to stop it. Magnesium Sulfate drip (PURE HELL), Nifedipine (gave me heartburn on top of my heartburun), and The Terbutaline shot. I STILL had and STILL have contractions they are getting harder and stronger and more painful. I am a petite person (Pre preg 5'4" 120 lbs) and can barely walk. There is NO more room! The babies are nearing 6lbs each..... Oh.....and I am going to Have to deliver c-section bc baby a is breech and baby b is transverse. I am SO miserable.

I haven't had twins, however I just had a C-section last August and I also have a 2 year old. I really didn't feel recovery from the c-section was any worse than from the vaginal delivery I had with my first baby. One nice thing is your abdomen stays numb so you really don't have much pain after the surgery (mine is still partially numb 6 months later). The worse part for me was the antibiotic I had to be on afterwards and the side effects from that. If you have to go on antibiotics make sure to have some of that yogurt with active cultures in the house to help regulate your system. Another nice thing about the surgery is you get to stay in the hospital longer and have all that extra help!

I know you are miserable but it is great you have kept those kiddos cooking so long, it just means healthy babies when they do make thier apperance! Congratulations!

I am also 36 weeks pregnant with twins. This is my second set. I have 2 boys who are 7 year old. I have been in bed rest since 21 weeks in. I am also having a c-section and want this to end already. I recently was hospitalized for almost falling and ended up tearing my pelvic cartiladge. I am also miserable and in complete pain. Can't wait until this is over. My boys are also breech. Regarding the c-section, it went fine. The only thing I didn't do was listen to my mom when she told me that any open stomach surgery, you really shouldn't talk for the first day, because it accumulates gases in your stomach and you will go through the worse pain you could ever imagine. So I only suggest that after your surgery, try to keep your talkin to a minimum the first day. Other than that. GOOD LUCK!!! :) I'm scheduled for March 7

You are truely a hero to your Twins and to me, BE glad you are doing so well, I Am so proud of you I only made it to 35 and 2 days and I had to watch my babies struggle through 2 weeks worth of lung problems and eating problems because I didn't stay on bed rest. IT is so worth the discomfort to escape the guilt that I Feel when I Think about my early delivery. and look at the old pictures of them in the NICU, Hang in there you are doing great, even days to a babies developing in the whomb are miraculous.
YOU are the hero of the day to me.

I carried our boy/girl twins to 39 weeks and 3 days. It was truly a blessing that they were able to stay in there, come out very healthy and come home when we left. They were considered full term even for a singleton. I was very proud to go beyond the "norm" for twins.
