6 Month Old and Her Binky

good morning everyone, I have a weird request this morning. My 6 month old daughter has been using the same binky given to her by the hospital when she was born. I have bought about 15 new binkies over the past 6 months for her and she will not take any other binky. She will not go to sleep without it and uses it to soothe her when she is crying. My question is, Is there anywhere that I can find that exact same binky given to her or will the hospital be willing to give another? I wanted to ask what everyone thought before I called the hospital.

What can I do next?

Hello,

I know what you are talking about. I went through the same thing. When my son was about 5-6 months I decided to replace his binky. Well i searched and searched for the right one. I just kept buying them in different sizes and colors. Finally i took a long look at the shape of the nipple and the kind of nipple (silicone) and found an exact duplicate. It worked. After trying to find one for a few weeks the nipple was the exact same shape, size, make. So go to the store and just look for the size and what kind of nipple it is and you will probably find it. Good luck.

Hi, I have talked to lots of people who got their binky from the hospital and said that the hospital gave them another one. Also I have found both kinds given to my boys from the hospital at walmart. If you can't find it there go online and google the name of the binky and you should find a couple online places to get it.

If your hospital gave you the round, green Soothie binky, then they are available at Target and Walmart (I think). My son would only take that kind as well. It would take him a few tries to warm up to the "new" binkys because they had a harder texture. Good luck!

Hi C.,
I believe you are talking about the green soothie. the cheapest place to get them on the web is https://store.childmed.com/ someone told me that they sell them at walmart too. it's not safe to use a binky for that amount of time as they get soft and if they have teeth they can bite the nipple off and choke. please try looking into the blue soothie that they have specially for kids with teeth, it's a little harder so it might take a little getting used to, but it's much, much safer for babies with teeth. Good luck!

I know a lot of hospitals around here use those binkies that look like a bottle nipple on a big flat circle, that have a little tab for a handle. If that is the kind, I found them at walmart after my son was born. I don't know if that is what you are looking for, or if they even still carry them. I know they were really hard to find, a friend of mine ended up calling the hospital to get another on before walmart started carrying them.

Hi C.! Usually all hospitals give out the same kind of pacifiers so the one I'm thinking of is an aqua colored rubbery one (I think the brand is Soothie)...you can easily get them at babies r us n they have different sizes depending on the babies' age. Hope I helped! Take care.

The hospital is unfortunately going to tell you that the paci they provide is intended to be used for a newborn only because of the way it shaped and the affect it can have on the palate.. Its called a soothie I believe.

i know what you mean, we have a bucket of binkys, and she goes through stages, she was on yellow butterfly binkys for awhile, then blue, now she has smellys???and holders???and even though there are some peole who say that she is to big for a binky, she uses it to soothe herself, to go to sleep with, they comfort her, and i tell them when her life is more stable she will give them up, ask the hospital, go to the hospital, right to the nurses desk, tell them you will even be willing to pay for a few, chances are they will just let you have them.

C.,

If she is that picky about the binky, then I would stick with the same type. The hospitals have been issuing a new standard binky and I have seen themm in Walmart. Check your local stores and then give the hospital a try. If she fusses that much, then she is not ready to be weined off yet. Trust your instincts when it comes to her, because she trusts you. Good Luck,
Aime

I think there is a website etched in the rubber of my daughter's hospital binky (she's sleeping with it now or I'd get you the info). I've seen binkies at Target that look just like the hospital binkies. They had them in that same blue/green and also pink. Gerber is also now making a similar design. I bet the hospital would give you another or let you purchase one. At the very least, they will probably tell you where they get them. Good luck!

Hi C.,

I had this same exact problem with my daughter. If you know the name of the brand of binky that shes attached to you can find it in a store easier. I was lucky enough to find the same ones my daughter was attached to at walmart and babies r us. If you arnt sure what brand it is I would say call the hospital and ask them so that you can find a replacement. If you have any more questions about it you can email me at ____@____.com
Hope this helps.

I can't help but to laugh. I feel your pain. My 11 month old has the same problem and I am ready to brake the binky habit now. Walmart used to sell them but I haven't seen them there in awhile. Babys-R-Us usually has them but just my luck - Cherry Hill didn't a few weeks ago. I have found them on ebay still in the wrapper from mothers that never used them. Last but not least - I believe there is a # for the company on it (I know there is some kind of identifying info you could try to google the company). And good luck with the hospital - I highly doubt they would give one up again for someone who is not a patient!!!
P.S. If you see a pink one - don't buy it - they are much "harder" than the green and my daughter just spits them out as well!!!

Hi C.,
Everyone is correct, they are called Soothies, and they are hard to find at times. I have found them at Target, Walmart, & Acme believe it or not. My daughter is the same way she will NOT accept any other binky. Just to warn you there is no way to clip these once she is older, and when they hit the ground they roll to God only knows where! LOL! I just keep buying more because I can't find them! I think I have personally kept the soothie company in business! Good luck!

I would just call the hospital and ask them. If the brand is etched into the binky, then you can always just do a search and see if you can just buy it online too.

I had the same problem. There must be something about those binkies...whoever invented them has probably mad ea fotrune by now. Anyway, they sell them at Target, and they also have the next stage, which are a little firmer.

My daughter was the same way. I had to purchase a binky from the hospital gift shop because they were the only place that I could find that same one. So, I'd tell you to start there and if they don't have one, I would definitely go to the nursery.

If it's the Soothie, they are sold at Toys R Us & Babies R Us. My son is 3 months old and is still using his. He won't use any other kind either. I bought a couple that are the next size up (blue), but they are much harder & he doesn't like it. I'll have to wait til he's older.

Not a weird one- as you can see we have all gone thru it - my hospital gave my son a blue round binky - ended up finding it at Kmart and it was a strange brand if I recall correctly. Also call the hospital - they probably know who carries them or like you said they may give or sell you a few. I did end up getting my son hooked on Nuks eventually so they will sometimes switch - good luck

Hello, is this the green binki you are talking about? If so my son used the same one and would not take any other. He will be 2 this June and if he sees another baby with it he wants it for himself. Anyway, yes you can call the hospital for one but they also sell them a t walmart. They come 2 in a pack for about $5. Ithink you may also be able to get them from either Target or Babies R Us.

I have seen the ones that the hospital gave at Target. I cant think of the name if it but its a light green color. I would just call the nursery and ask them the name of it.it is dangerous to use the same one for that long of time. they rip and the baby could choke on the rubber
