My 6 month old is waking up at night about 5 times a night now. She has learned to roll over from stomach to back very successfully, but can't roll over the other way very well. How can I get her to sleep through the night again, while rolling over?!?
Thanks for all the advice. She is still rolling like crazy. I tried using the wedge and it made her even more mad that she couldn't roll over. I guess this will just be a work in progress. Thanks.
Have you tried using a wedge? That would keep her from rolling over.
get her a sleep posistioner. it will keep her from turning over in her sleep. they have them at babies are us...or might be able to find a 2nd hand on at a babies consignment store.
Is she sleeping on her stomach, then rolls over onto her back and wakes up? FYI, she shouldn't be sleeping on her stomach in the first place - increased SIDS risk. A positioner to let her sleep on her side might work, if she doesn't like to sleep on her back.
My daughter just started rolling also and get stuck on her belly :) She always rolls to her left. Does your son only know how to roll one way? If so I would lay him up against the crib rail on the side he rolls to so he can't. My daughter co-sleeps with us sO just lay close enough to her side that she can't roll. Good luck!
My daughter did the same thing around 5 months when she learned to role from her back to her belly. I hate to say it, but nothing we tried worked. We had to wait till she learned to role from her belly to her back so she could do it herself. I am thinking it took her 2 or 3 weeks to get good at it. she only roled over the first couple of hours till she got into a really deep sleep so I was able to get some sleep, but by the end of the three weeks, I was exhausted. It's good to know that someone else is going through this. My little boy started finally sleeping through the night about about 3 1/2 months. Then about a week later he learned to roll over. We were then back to every few hours he was waking up. If we let him fuss for a few minutes he would start to scream. It was easier if we just ran in there and put him back on his stomach again. It always made him go right back to sleep. A few weeks ago we started using a sleep positioner. It is just to big wedges on both sides that velcro with material in the middle. We put him in between the wedges to keep him from rolling over. It's not 100% effective but it does make it a little harder for him. That is the only thing I could think of doing. Hopefully other people have more ideas because I'm in need of them too!!
