My mom turns 60 in August but we are having a surprise party for her this Saturday. My SIL wants to get jewelry for her, but I don't. My two other siblings can't afford to contribute the $100 for the necklace she wants to get. She has a ton of jewelry and we've gotten her necklaces for gifts at Christmas before. Any ideas of special gifts that aren't expensive?? She isn't in to going to the spa, but she loves making crafts...sewing, knitting, card making, etc. Your ideas would be appreciated!!

What can I do next?

A Fancy sewing machine with bells and whitles she doesn't already have.

My MIL loves the kind of gift that is a service. Last year for Mothers Day, we redid her flower beds and she was thrilled.
You could go to her house and overhaul a room to make her a crafters paradise. You could do the craft room unveil at the party by having a picture of it blown up and wrapped.

OOO, I would think a big fat gift card to Michaels or whatever craft store she loves, would be her "pie in the sky"..

OR if she has not already done this.. Consider helping make a craft space in her home.. A big table, shelves, drawers a place for every tool.. Good lighting for day and night time.
Pinterest has pie in the sky craft rooms.. I drool when I see them..

Even Ikea has great things to help organize a perfect spot for her.

You all have a great time celebrating her!

Well, it's short notice so you probably can't get it by Saturday, BUT for my sister turning 60 we gave her a blanket with pictures of her kids and family on it. She loved it!!!

You can order it from Wal-mart - they had the best price - and it's all done on-line. There are different sizes and you can put in a lot of pictures and play around with the design, etc. till you get it just right and then you hit "send" and in a few days you'll receive it in the mail.

I'm hoping someone does this for me when I turn 60. I've dropped enough hints!!! lol!!!

Another idea would be the metal Family Tree - has lots of little frames you put in picutres - we did this for my Mom one year. She loved it!!!

Good luck and happy birthday to your Mom!!!

A gift card for a craft store. You could get her a kit with all the supplies to make something.

Does she already have a nice chair or table? Crafting usually requires a lot of sitting and a comfy chair is almost necessary.

Back massager that goes on a chair?

Organization cubby or system? Custom built or designed.

Shelving units that hold her finished products?

Have a custom built wooden card box made for her?

I am a crafter too - I would appreciate things like gift cards to Hobby Lobby, AC Moore, Jo-Ann Fabric,or Michael's. Another nice thing would be books full of ideas for my chosen crafts, how-to or pattern books. Another item I really ike is my Ott-LITE - it is a light specially designed for crafting, the lite it emits is like working with direct sunlight, some are small table top ones that come with magnifying glass attached, there are also floor lamps, with adjustable heads.

If she doesn't already have a dedicated space for crafting, the ideas below of helping her build her perfect craft room are GREAT! Or going with her to the craft stores and doing projects with her - get into one of the crafts she likes, and build memories with her by doing those projects together!

When a friend's husband turned 80, all the kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids contributed to a list of "80 reasons why we love you." The responses were everything from memories to feelings to things they appreciated to things he had said. One of her daughters put all of the responses into a scrapbook with pictures of him with each family member. It was his most prized possession and when he was living with Alzheimer's, it was his lifeline and always near him. It cost very little money, but it was the most valuable gift they could have given him.
