8 Month Old Has a Raspy Voice.

My 8 month old little girl has developed a rasp in her voice. This started just a couple of days ago and I can't explain it. She doesn't have a cough, or a cold, or a runny nose. Nothing has changed, just her voice has become raspy as if she had be smoking for several years. She has a doctor's appointment next week just to make sure it's nothing serious. Has anyone had any experience similar to this before? Or has any idea what it might be? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I had a raspy voice until high school. My voice actually cracked twice and I lost it twice in middle school while developing my current voice.

I always get seemingly odd things checked by my pedi, but I bet she just has a raspy voice. I think it is endearing. :)

Good to have it check. My daughter gets is sometimes when she is allergic to something... We have had her tested and the test r inconclusive since she is only 2. However since the thr put her on singular we have had no problems.. it could just be allergies... Good luck ...

My baby who is almost the same age just got over a raspy voice. He had it for about 4 days ago before it cleared up. It is only a little raspy sometimes when he wakes up, but it never seemed to bother him and he never got sick. I was going to call the docter but he is fine now. He is teething pretty bad right now and the weather has been funny, so I am not sure what did it. Is your daughter teething? This doesn't really give advice I guess, but we had it too!

I was amazed at my daughters voice too! I used to tell my mom it seemed like she was a "40 year old asthmatic smoker!" Anyway, perfectly normal, something to do with back of throat (vocal chords, tonsils, etc) and the planets being aligned? JK. Just keep an eye for signs of a sore throat, otherwise, talk to dr. next week. :)A.

Allergies would be my guess. Do you or your husband have them?

I have a niece that was like this. She just grew up with a raspy voice. Nothing wrong with her. She is now 23, and still has a raspy voice.
