Dry skin? Acne! What to do? They are not red or painful. No signs of puberty. She could probably wash face more often!? Thoughts?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It is barely noticeable. I doubt my waiting has scarred her for life. The ped says moisturizer and no need for derm.

Without seeing the bumps even a doctor would not know what they are. There are many different bumps; large/ small; various colors/skin tone; flaky/smooth; soft/firm/very hard; close together/scattered; smooth/rough; etc.

I would start by seeing her pediatrician.

I would not assume she needs to wash her face more often. That can really dry out her skin.

My boys had small skin-colored bumps on their face and upper arms when them were young. Their ped recommended Aquaphor, and that really helped.

I think you need to ask you doctor, as it really could be so many things. But I definitely wouldn't assume she needs to wash her face more. She could be doing more harm than good going that route.

I would go to a dermatologist and have it checked. Since she's close to puberty, the visit could also serve as a proactive approach for you/her to figure out how to treat her skin.

She needs to start practicing a regular routine of skin care now and it will reward her later with good skin.

If you open a dermatology textbook, you'll see literally hundreds of possible causes for "bumps" on the face. There's absolutely no way that anyone can diagnose your daughter and offer treatment advice here.

Please bring her to the doctor and have her examined. A month is far too long to allow this to continue. She needs to be diagnosed and treated... hopefully your waiting will not leave her scarred for life.

Dermatologist for sure. My son is ten and he has his first appointment next month for a mole check and for a healthy skin habit talk. He has already gotten one small pimple on his nose and he was so embarrassed.

Plus my kids have watched me go through what everyone thought was adult onset severe cystic acne. It wasn't and it was my awesome dermatologist who figured out why I looked so bad. Both my kids love her for getting rid of mom's red bumps.

I would take her, and make an appointment asap because they book months out for a new patient. Oh, and get a referral for a good one from a doctor you like.

Does she have the bumps on the back of her arms? If so, it's likely KP which is an extremely dry skin condition. It can be very bad this time of year in the East before the humidity sets it.

Go see a dermatologist.

Make sure she washes her face every night before bed with something gentle like Cetaphil.

My son had what looked like a bumpy rash on his face. His doctor took one look at it and said it was just dry skin. He has been moisturizing daily for about a month and it is nearly gone.

My other son had bumps on his arm and it was moluscum. That took two years to go away on its own.

I wouldn't have her wash her face more than first thing in the morning and again before bed, and no harsh soap!

If she doesn't already use a daily moisturizer have her start, and if it isn't gone by her next check up ask the doctor.

Could be impetigo.
Washing face more often would help with that.

See the doc then go buy stuff for bumpy skin. It's like pre-acne.

If you find out that it is KP (Keratosis pilaris) try Arbonne Seasource Re-mineralizing body lotion. It's the only thing that has worked on my KP. Totally got rid of it. I'm now using it on my daughter's bad case and it's also helping her so far.
