Advice for Losing 10 Lbs?

I am 5'7" and currently weigh around 135. I would like to get back down to 125 or so, the weight I've always been. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 16 month old. This is not baby weight. ;) I lost all my baby weight, but have not been eating as healthy as I should, and have not been exercising, so the weight had added up. I honestly don't mind my weight, but now I have a flabby belly which really bothers me. All my pants give me muffin tops. :/ So I would really like to tone up/lose weight/etc. Any advice? I get bored easily so a DVD would be good. Going to a gym is not really an option right now. Can't afford the membership fees. I am buying a double mountain buggy this week, so I plan on starting to walk/jog with my little ones. I just want to feel better about my figure...ya know? I want to feel comfortable in my skin again. Also, any tips on healthy eating would be great too! TIA!

What can I do next?

Running/jogging will give you the best results, along with some light weight training and yoga/pilates. You can get 5lb weights at Wal Mart for cheap, as well as a yoga or pilates DVD. You can run outside.

Also, try to cut out or reduce your refined carbs. Lower carb and/or whole wheat carbs only.

I swear by Green Smoothies - I feel they helped me get pregnant faster and maintain my health and figure. (5'7" 123lbs, size 2). Google green smoothies - I drink them almost daily. You can experiment and find some you love! I love strawberries, spinach, avocado and OJ. Yum!

Good luck! You can do this!

I have had the same issues and when i was reading your post it sounded just like me talking! Im curious how to lose 10 or 20 too (Im 5'8" 150 pounds)! I never seemed to lose the baby weight and I want to get rid of that muffin top too, i have a pile of "Skinny clothes" i hope to get into again. I cant afford gym either and have so much equipment at home that i dont do. I just pray that eating healthy will do it and i keep avoiding the truth of breaking sweat is the only way to do it haha.

I highly recommend T-Tapp. Google it. Just get the basic workout plus. You will lose inches incredibly fast, and it only takes 15 minutes a day for the first couple of weeks, and then every other day. Love it!

I sell a weight loss program. I've learned a lot through the program on how to eat. Eating healthy of course is very important. Balance is important too, but portion size is extremely important. Super Sizing has confused us. Did you know a healthy serving of meat should be no more than the size of a deck of cards?

It's often helpful to have a light healthy snack sometime during the day that must include protein. Protein helps to sate you. For example, if you eat breakfast at 8, lunch at noon, have that snack at 3 or 4 (a couple of hours before dinner) so that you don't get ravenous and go crazy later. Drink a healthy tea with a drop of honey mid morning if you need something.

So exited about your mountain buggy! Exercise! The more calories you burn the more weight you will lose. All exercise you do adds up. If you only have 10 minutes still take that walk. Later you may be able to squeeze in another 20-30 minutes. Don't think you have to get in 30-40 at one shot every day. Better to do a little than none at all. Eat healthy protein after you exercise.

Let me know if I can help further. You go Girl!

Do cardio (walking, running, biking....) for 30-40 mins a day 5 days a week while maintaining a healthy diet and you will see changes. The changes will NOT happen quick, but stick with it, because once you see the improvements, you will be soo happy. I started working out faithfully last July and lost 10 lbs since then. I am where I was number wise before I have 2 kids and before I turned 30, so that feels good :)

I'm the same size as you and have been doing the DVD by Jillian Michaels for problem areas. I'm happy with my size, but want to tone up more. this DVD rocks!

You could add some core work and strength training to you walk/run. If you have a Walmart nearby, they have some decent dvds. Or try your local library. If you have cable tv, look for Fit TV or other exercise channels.
You don't really need equipment. Body weight exercises like squats, planks, push ups and sit ups get the job done.
Increase you fruit and vegetable intake and drink plenty of water and green tea.

I started walking 6 nights a week for 30-40 min, if i walk a fast pace, i can usually burn 300 calories in a session. Plus, it makes me feel so good in the mornings when i get up. I dont find myself as tired and my body doesnt ache as much.
As for the food part, i am still working on that part. They say that you should keep track of your calorie count and a woman should eat no more than 1500 calories in one day, keeping in mind if you walk, you will lose the 300 calories, so your body is getting 1200 calories a day, enough to lose weight!
I try and eat 6 small meals throughout the day, eating more fruits and veggies and drinking more water (i am not a water drinker) so i really have to push the water. I dont really keep track of the calories, just trying to make wiser and healthier food decisions. No fast food and cutting down in bread intake. Good luck!

I was right where you are! I was up to 139 and I really prefer to hover around the 130 mark. I started doing the Jillian Micheals DVDs-30 day Shred and Ripped in 30. They are quick which is nice because I have 2 kiddos also. They are about a 20 minute work out but they are *tough*! I also added in running. After I changed up my eating habits and got that on track again and started doing the dvds I lost 6-7lbs pretty quick.

My suggestion is to go more by how you look and feel in your clothes than the actual number. Our bodies are different after kids but that doesn't mean it can't be an awesome different! I was reading on the JM website about vanity pounds. Trying to lose down to a certain number. She said our body usually knows where it wants to be and you can struggle to lose those last couple of pounds to hit a magic number but your body will fight with you. She said she has gained and lost the same 8 vanity pounds more times than she can count.

Cathe Freidrich has some really tough videos. I like her boot camp DVD. I was able to lose 10 pounds once by cutting out one thing: I drank international delight in my coffee everyday. It's amazing how little things can really pack on the pounds. Good luck!
