I was wondering if there is anyone who crochets or knits in the area and if there was a group to go to? I'm learning to do both. I know the basics but would love to advance. Right now my teacher is YouTube!

Nope I dont live near you nor crochet...BUT - we have a mom and pop sewing machine repair shop/sales shop. They offer classes. Your local quilt show might be able to point you in the direction of a quilting bee or a crochet group. You might be able to find or post knitting groups at your local Hobby lobby , or craft store.

My 98 year old neighbor really helped me with my knitting. Does your town have a senior center that offers things like knitting circles, etc.
Could be a good start to learn from those who have had a lifetime of experience. If not a senoir center - call some local churches to see what they do for seniors and if anything includes knitting or crochet.
good luck!

One thing you could do is look for a group, such as projectlinus.org that makes blankets to donate to children in the hospital.
Here in Round Rock, the library has a knitting and crochet interest group that meets twice a month.
You could ask for recommendations at the store where you buy yarn.

My mom just taught me how to knit, shes kind of a pro. Its something that all my moms sisters enjoy and I'm working on something right now. Around my area they have great knitting stores that will teach you how and have classes you can sign up for.
