Are BumGenius Itchy for Baby?

Love my BumGenius! I started using at 2.5 months and now my lo is 21 months. But, I do use a variety of types. I made most of my covers out of fleece. There's a pattern (very easy) on diaperswappers.com under "fleece soaker". I also have a wool cover that I love! I would buy more wool covers if my budget allowed for it. Otherwise I had great luck with Imse Vimse Organic Cotton Diaper Cover when my lo was solely breastfeed. The double gusseted legs kept messes in wonderfully. I bought them off of jilliansdrawers.com. I now have swaddlebees abc wraps. I bought them off of their outlet store for $6 or so. They work great for her now, but I just started using them in nov. I don't know how they'd work for newborns.

Have you washed them a few times to see how they feel after?
Could you cut the tag out or sew a bit of polar fleece over it? Anyway my tip is to make sure you pick one that has gussets (the extra part around the leg helps prevent blow outs).
On registering for cloth diapers my suggestion is to limit the other stuff you register for. All my friends that registered for diapers received only 2.
I used unbleached DSQ prefolds, and bummies covers, some fuzzy buns (no tag problem w/ these). I cut a strip of polar fleece to cover the diaper, it keeps babies skin dry, and when the poo gets solid you can pop it off the fleece into the toilet easier than the diaper itself.

I didn't cloth diaper all the time, but we did have a few of the BumGenius Pocket diapers. They were nice and we didn't have any problems with them when we did use them.

Just for fun, we got a couple of these made up... they are SOOOO CUTE and work just as well (again, we got the pocket diapers though, not the AIO). You custom order them just how you want them! Right now, they have a "buy any two diapers, get a pocket diaper free" promotion. They are very well made and I love them!

I haven't heard of anyone complaining of this problem. Lots of people love them! Just in case you didn't know... that patch is where you fasten the velcro when you put it in the wash. If anything it will get softer after washing. I commend you for cloth diapering!!

I haven't heard of the bumgenius brand but I have seen several parents use bummies and tiny tush and not only are they excellent but cute too. They come in all sorts of varieties. There covers are also great and they wash nicely. My daughter has used them through one baby and they would work for another. They have several nice packages. I would also suggest the diaper sprayer that hooks on your toilet. What a luzury.

they don't seem to bother my daughter one bit. It may be more convenient for you to get more than 12 though, so you can wash them every other day instead of daily, and I definiatly recomend you get flushable liners, they collect the solids so you don't have to throw all the poo and keep things a bit easier...

We use the bumgenious one size diaper. I am not sure if they are the same design as the AIO but we love the ones we have. Our daughter is 10 months now & we have used them since birth. She sleeps over night in them with a hemp insert. They clean so well and they are so good for her bottom and the earth. We are very happy with our investment. My name is K. and I am the very excited new grandma of a beautiful 2 month old granddaughter who 'only' wears 'BumGenius' diapers. My daughter has the 'all in one' diapers - the insert with the marking on it - goes in first when "stuffing" the diaper...the only 'tag' on the babies diaps is on the outside of the colorful panties. She LOVES using this brand on her daughter and baby is very content in cloth diapers. Her little 'bum' has not had any skin issues or anything....mainly because of these cloth diapers. Also, my daughter uses 100% cotton wash cloths - sprayed with warm water to clean her daughters bum -- when they are out in public she does have some pre-moistened baby wipes for her in the diaper bag....but at home....it's all cotton. I trust that this information will help you in making a wise decision for your family. This is my first experience with 'BumGenius'.....I'm VERY Impressed. God Bless.

Hello. I had 2 of the BG AIO diapers, and I never had a problem with scratching or itching. However, I didn't care for the absorbancy with poop in the diaper. They never seemed to be able to get tight enough around the legs and I had several explosions!. I prefer pocket diapers over AIO- but I prefer the Happy Heiny's one-size pocket. I only use those at night or at naps (I only have 6 of them). I use pre-fitted (Kissaluvs and MotherEase) with a cover- and find those to be the best for during the day. I was glad that before baby, I bought a few of several different types and then bought the stock after he was born.

Edit- my favorite covers to use with prefolds are the Thirsties. I think the Imse Vimse are cuter- but they don't work as well.

I love my B.G. and have been using them since day one 12/07. I have the 3.0 pockets and I have no problem.I would say go ahead as these and my blueberry's are my faves.I did use a few size small in the beginning but found the adjustable sizing to be better for the money in the long run- I also love my kissa luvs and swadlebees as newborn these both need covers.These two seem to hold runny poops way better(I still go back to my swadlrbees w/ woolies)That being said if these are going to be your main dipe I would recommend having more like 20-24 in a eotation that way the velcro does not where .Good luck I am so glad to see more people switching to cloth.I love all of mine!1

I have Kissaluvs for newborn and super whisper wrap covers, chinese prefolds for the next stage along with BG 3.0 and Super Whisper Wraps for covers.

I would also check out Craig's List. Many mommy's sell gently or never used ones as they decide cloth is just not for them. I got a handful of BG 3.0 never used for an amazing price.

I wish you luck - cloth diapering is easier than you think.

I have the BG 3.0 pockets (maybe its different with AIO's) and never noticed a stiff square patch. My daughter has used them with no complaints :) I also recomend Thirsty covers if you use prefolds. They have great leg gussets and come in many pretty colors. We've also had good luck with Bummi's but neither are one size covers. Enjoy the CD's! I wouldn't do it any other way :)
