Okay mamas, the challenge is for you to tell me about a brand/style of athletic shoes that will last. My son has gone through 3 pairs of athletic shoes in 3 months (not due to growing out of them). HELP! The soles of the shoes just wear off. My son is active he uses them for regular wear and playground sports (including basketball and running). The UnderArmour brand lasted longest but it's still only good for 6 weeks. The other brands were Reebok and something we got at Ross. Any ideas would be great.

I would try new Balance. Also get them at sears if you can. If you use their kid-vantage program, I believe they will replace them if the get ruined before they outgrow them.

Not sure how old your son is---Merrells have lasted like iron for my son as did his most recent shoes--Slimers from Stride Rite.
When my nephew was 6 I found that the only shoes that he didnt destroy with daily wear is the skate type shoes. as soon as we started buying him the skate type shoes they would last until he moved up a size. not even the pricey brand ones just that style
I have a 5 & 6 year old. They both go through shoes quickly but it is usually from growing. I have been buying ours from Payless Shoe Source and they seem to last for 6+ months, maybe more. Maybe try getting one pair for regular/playground, and another pair for sports? I know we have a couple pairs around here, because one shoe always seems to disappear as we are walking out the door!!
I have a 5 yr old and a 4 yr old. I buy nike for them and nice shoes. BUT I also buy them the $10 starter brand shoes from Walmart. I know but they look great and are tough....The good thing is that if they do tear up after 8 weeks its okay because they were 10 dollars. I like to call they take and toss shoes. Good luck!
