Baby Furniture - Displayed In-store

Any recommendations for the widest selection of baby furniture in-store? My husband and I have become very frustrated by how much is available online but not available to been seen and touched in any store. We are looking to view the Storkcraft line of furniture (cribs, changing tables, gliders, dressers) and see for ourselves the quality we have read in reviews. We've called around to Target, Sears, Babies R Us and the majority of these stores have maybe 2-4 styles on display. Any store location suggestions would be much appreciated.

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for all of the referrals! My husband and I have spent the last few weekends checking out all of the recommendations. I think we are going to go with a Pali crib amd dresser from Lazar's that is on special. We're paying a little more than I originally planned but defintely getting a lot of quality for our money. Thanks again everyone!!!

I was pretty impressed by the amount of baby furniture at a store in Naperville. It's called 'Lil Deb-n-Heir (www.debnheir.com). It's kind of a hike from Chicago but I thought it was worth it. They also way over estimated the time it would take to get the furniture so I got the crib and dresser in a few weeks. Good luck!

Hi N.:

First and foremost, congratulations!! 20 weeks is such an exciting time. Your post doesn't mention where you live, but I found the largest selection of on display baby furniture to be at Lazar's in Lincolnwood. Now, I don't know if they carry Storkcraft, but here is their website www.lazarsfurniture.com give them a call. They are tremendously helpful.

All the best,
A.

In the general area of North Avenue & Clybourn in Chicago. There's a Land of Nod, Bellini, Pottery Barn for Kids all within 1 mile. They all have lots of baby furniture on display.

Give both Buy, Buy Baby and Lazar's a call. They typically have a good selection on display.

Since you're in the city, Babies 'R Us at Fullerton & Narragansett has about 30 cribs/dressers on display. Burlington Coat Factories that have a Baby Depot inside will also have a lot on display (the ones in Arlington Heights and Melrose Park). Happy shopping.

Be careful buying online if you do -- I think a ton of storkcraft cribs were just recalled...check www.cpsc.gov. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Good luck with the second half....summers can be tough (I have a 20 mo old born in mid-July and a 4 mo old born over a week late in mid-November).

We ordered ours through buybuy baby in downers grove. they have a huge selection. We also went to lil deb n heir, babies and beds, crib and bed outlet and beautiful beginnings. We looked everywhere, priced matched, and buy buy baby was the best choice for us. we went with sorelle. Good luck.

Lazars has a good selection, its in Lincolnwood so not far from the city. There are some good places to check out in the burbs too. I can't remember the name but there's a store in Deer Park that was great, huge showroom...maybe Kidz something, sorry can't remember, and another place in Naperville. You can also go to Bellini on Clybourn or Beautiful Beginnings also on Clybourn. Bellini has more on display...prices are more expensive at those two places.
Good luck!

You will pretty much have to drive around to get a look at a number of cribs from the same mfg. I think Strokcraft is a great company, but a word of caution. Before you actaully buy the crib you choose, call them and make sure they are not going to discontinue the crib in the next month or so. When I got the crib for my first, I went with a Storkcraft. I was missing pieces and had to call for parts. The woman was very nice and helpful. She told me that the crib was a discontinued model (nothing wrong, just updated). The store did not tell me this. My crib did not have any names stamped on it. I had to send in pictures. Luckily the part needed was used on all their cribs. But definitely check just to make sure a part will be available if needed in 8 months. And when you get the crib, regardless of the mfg, make sure you keep the make and model # in case you have to call about it.

We really liked both 'Lil Deb-n-Heir and Lazaar's for both selection and service.
