We bought the Fisher Price Duel Private Connection Monitor when my daughter was born 2 years ago and LOVED IT!!! Now it has static and some other issues.

We purchased a replacement Safety First Glow and Go. HORRIBLE...I cant hear her at all unless she is screaming and the lights are just as unrelaible.

I was considering the Safety 1st hight Definiton monitor and the Fisher Price new version of the Duel Private Connection Monitor.

If you have one like these I would like your opinion. Or if you have one you LOVE I would like to know and let me know which ones you tried and HATED!

I want a monitor that is:

Clear (no static)
That i can even hear her roll over in bed or sigh
Rechargeable
Long bat life
Good range

Thank you for your reviews.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Since my daughter is 26 months I decided not to buy the video monitor. We are trying for a 2nd child so when we have one i know which video monitor to go with.

I went and purchased the Safety 1st High Definition monitor BUT I had a few problems with it. I could hear her when she was kicking on the crib and other sounds but i couldnt hear her soother or her voice very well. It only had 4 levels of volume to turn up and this was at its highest setting. You couldnt rely on the lights because the sound had to be loud enough to pick it up.

So I exchanged it for the newer model of the one I had before. The Fisher Price Duel Private Connection Monitor. IT WORKS GREAT!!! It picks up even her sigh and slightest wisper even sounds of the tv in the next room just like her original monitor. The lights light up on both sides of the monitor at even the slightest sound. Bonus it even works with her old base so if the base ever goes i out i now have a back up. It has two monitors so now added to the old monitors i have 4 (two that work perfect and two older back ups). if we decided to use this one for the second child we have the extra base and all the monitors we need.

LOVE IT! Highly reccomend the FISHER PRICE DUEL PRIVATE CONNECTION MONITOR!

We also have the Summer handheld video monitor and love it. Our son is upstairs and we are down, so it is so nice to just 'peak' in on him with the monitor. We do get a bit of static from time to time, but it is not a big problem at all. I am pregant with our 2nd child, and we plan on getting another one of these. I highly recommend it!

This is the one I use for my twins & I love it. I had sound monitors, but I find the video much more comforting. I don't have to run in if they're crying. I can always watch what they're doing. I have two cameras hooked to one monitor, so you can add on when/if you have more kids. There is static from time to time though.

The above link is the monitor I have. We have been using it for 2 1/2 yrs and it is just now starting to get a little static at times. I can hear my son breathing in it. I can hear the dogs down the street barking with it on, but not with it off, thats how sensitive it is. I love that I can hear every little thing. You can also hook it to the tv and watch them there if you like. I have taken it outside and it has been fine, although I haven't taken it past the driveway.

I use it for both naptime and all night, and I generally have to recharge it every other day. I just let it charge overnight while we are sleeping.

I second Heather G's recommendation for the Summer Infant handheld video monitor. We bought ours new in August of 06 and it's still working great. I can hear EVERYTHING with it, and I like being able to look in on my daughter whenever I want without waking her. It's been a Godsend when she's been sick. Also great for when they wake up, yell and go back to sleep-you can check to make sure they are okay and you don't wake them all the way up by going into their room!!

It meets all the criterion you list above. We live in an older house where the electricity interferes with cell phones and we don't get static on this. And we have been able to go outside across the yard with it and it works great.

One more thing, we bought a replacement adapter for the handset because we lost ours on a trip...they shipped it FOR FREE and we rec'd it in less than a week after we ordered it.

Finally, this is also a great pet training aid as we used it pre-baby to bust one of our dogs that kept peeing in the kitchen. This was money TOTALLY well spent.

Buy locally, check the return policy, and keep the receipt. Good luck!

After three kids and trying an endless number of monitors I found the Philips baby monitor to be the best. It is amazing! I keep a noice maker in my daughters room and the monitor will only pick up her crying. It is a little pricer than some of the other monitors but well worth the investment.

Good luck! R. G.
