Hello Ladies!

I saw a post earlier about a baby name, and it made me think about the names that my hubby and I love for our next child (which hopefully will come sooner rather than later)! What I wanted to know is which name for each gender you would choose, and how popular are they really? I never hear a child called by these names, but that doesn't mean that they aren't out there! We want names that are slightly different (me being a "Megan" version and my hubby a Jason...too many of us out there), but also not so far gone no one ever knows how to say/pronounce our kids names! Thanks in advance!

Our boy names are:

-Carter David
-Owen Andrew
(Both middle names are familial.)

Our girl names are:

-Callie Elizabeth
-Georgia Elizabeth (I LOVE the song "Georgia on my Mind"...thus the spelling stays!)
-Caroline Elizabeth
(Elizabeth is my husband's grandmother's name, so we want to honor her!)

P.S. Last name starts with "H" so none of them should give crazy initials!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

There is still no "general consensus" (and there probably won't be until we are blessed with number 2), but I am glad to hear that our names are as a great as we thought they were! It's always nice to know that you aren't crazy or out in left field... :)

I have a Carter Allen, so I vote for Carter David. I had a friend in college named Georgia and she was an absolutely beautiful person inside and out! I love the name Georgia Elizabeth.

My vote would be for Carter....I agree Owen is becoming more popular and it makes me think of Owen Wilson.

I like Elizabeth but I'm not too keen on any of the girl first names (sorry).

Best of luck....he/she will be precious no matter what you choose. ;-)

Carter is one of my son's middle names and I love it!! It's a family name for us, but other than that I've heard it maybe once in a movie! As far as your girl names my husband and I thought about Georgia for our daughters name. It's very pretty and southern. I have a friend named Callie and other than that that's the only person I know with that name. I've known quite a few Caroline's, but it is a pretty name.

Baby names!! Oh what fun!
As for the boy names I know a little boy named Owen and a little boy named Carter both under 1 year of age. As for my pick of names I would go with Andrew Carter
- that is a very strong name meaning - Manly (Andrew) Cart Driver (Carter). Also, this name nicknamed as:
Andy Carter
Drew Carter
As for the girl names I know a little one under one that is named Caroline. As for my pick of names I would go with
Callie Elizabeth or Caroline Elizabeth
Both names are very nice and flow together very well.
Any name you pick be sure to look at it from an initials standpoint.
I hope this helps!! Good luck with your adventure.

You can go to the Social Security website, or a number of "baby name" websites to see how popular these names are. I definitely agree with you on wanting not-overly-common names but still "normal" -- that's one of the things my husband and I agree on when it comes to baby names. I've sort of made the decision that we would eliminate names even if we liked them, if they were too popular -- preferably not in the top 100, but certainly not in the top 25. The problem is, sometimes a name becomes popular when you least suspect it. "Jackson" is a perfect example of this -- it went for decades, perhaps even a century, at somewhere around #500, then suddenly skyrocketed in the late 90s to #100-something, and now is around #35 in popularity. You may not realize that a name is even that popular, until children get a little older and you start hearing mothers yelling at their children at the park. ;-) But you can look at websites for these trends, so that you don't accidentally end up with your children being named the modern equivalent of Jennifer, Jessica, or Jason.

I like Carter better and Owen is the more popular of the two. I love Georgia, it's getting more popular. Caroline could be sweet Caroline, and you can call her carrie if you want. I think of Callie as a cute kid name but not as good when she's an adult. Love Elizabeth, it's my sisters and my daughters middle name :)

I love the names David and Andrew, but not carter or owen, for me they sound to much like last names. My 23 year old son Is Andrew Michael, Andrew means manly. For the girls I like all the names especially
Georgia Elizabeth, but I would spell it Jorja instead of like the state, Elizabeth is a beautiful old fashion name, what else goes with Elizabeth is Laura. J.

I like all of these names, but I have a negative association with Carter (a character on South Park).

Callie is sort of overdone right now, but I like it and it's pretty. I love Caroline.

I am not sure about the boys' names but that is just my opinion. I do like Julian for boy's name but that name doesn't seem to go with David or Andrew though.

I do like Caroline Elizabeth but I think Emily for a girl's name would be cute too and I think Emily Elizabeth goes as well.

I actually like Carter Andrew. David is too popular and Owen is not a favorite of mine. I do know a few Owen's and only one Carter. Andrew Carter is cute too and you can still call him Carter. Both of our kids are called by their middle names. The names flowed better that way but we knew what we wanted to call them. Joshua "Parker" and Emma "Ashlyn".

I like Callie Elizabeth, LOTS of Caroline's by me. I would not initially like the name Georgia but it is one of those names that in years to come might sound really neat b/c there are not many. Plus, a cute as a button little girl just might make Georgia sounds adorable. Think nickname too, in a rush you WILL call them by a nickname even if you say you will not. Like Cal is a cute one, George, not so much.

Congrats on the new baby on the way!!!
