My 3 y.o. keeps asking for a tablet. Toys R Us has the Leap pad 2 on sale Thanksgiving day for $39 or $49 bucks. Is this a good one that will hold up to a 3 y.o. Moms that have this one is it pretty easy to get games onto it? Would you recommend something else? Do they have Wi-Fi on them where I can down load games from the internet? Can you watch movies on them that are downloaded?

Thanks

I highly recommend anything made by Leap Frog. My 6 year old has the LeapPad and enjoys it. Hers is not WIFI enabled, but its also an older model. You might want to consider the Leapster for her vs the LeapPad.

My daughter has been using the Leappad 2 since she was 3. She's used other systems like the Leapfrog Explorer and a few other older systems her older brothers have gotten over the years. It is a really great system. The games are really easy to get in and out, even for small hands. The Leapad and other older systems do not us wifi, they use a USB plug and plug directly to the computer to download things from the Leapfrog site. You can not watch movies and such on them. It is a proprietary system, you can only put on it what comes from Leapfrog.
The only way you can do things like watch movies is to get something like an iPad or other tablet that isn't marketing for children.

Another vote for leap pad. Leap anything! Very educational. Very easy for them to play and never hidden fees like on some ipad "free" games. That's a great price too.

Please do not get your toddler ADDICTED to electronics yet. Please google this - I have heard that this is just like a drug addiction and breaking it is extremely difficult.

Please give your child the time to develop his/her own imagination and to learn patience. These electronics teach instant gratification - that's not really the way the world works. Please give your child time to figure out just a little bit how the world works before he/she starts thinking that the world works the way it does electronically.

Also, please DO NOT shop on Thanksgiving. Those employees want to be home with their families the same way you want to celebrate with yours. If people would not shop on that day, the stores would be closed. Please consider your fellow man!
