BPA Free Bottles

With all the recent hype about BPA in plastic bottles I'd like to switch to BPA free bottles or even glass bottles. Even though my son is almost 8 months I think its worth it for the next 4 months. I've looked at the weego but they are $18 each. I've also seen the Born Free bottles and the ThinkBaby bottles which are plastic but BPA free. Does anyone have an experience with any of these or something similar?? Love to hear from you!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I went to Target and bought the Evenflo BPA free plastic bottles in a 3 pack for $3.00. I also found some at Walmart (Parents Choice) in a 3 pack BPA free for $3. As another mom said the Dr. Browns parts will work in both of those bottles...you use the BPA free bottle and then use the nipple, ring, tube and brown insert with it from your Dr. Browns bottles. The only downside is you have to cut the tube for a full 8 oz...or you can just use the 4oz tube. We cut ours per all the postings from http://thesoftlanding.com/. The parts in Dr. Browns do not have BPA. This was much better than spending tons of money on all new bottles for only the next 4 months. Now I'm on a mission to buy new pacificers and sippy cups!! : )

For those of you wanting to know the difference between Born Free, Think baby and Green to Go bottles check out that website about. It is fabulous and dedicated to BPA free baby products!

I've kind of rigged what I have. I have a ton of dr. browns bottles, so I contacted the company about the inserts. Apparently only the exterior bottle contains bpa. The inserts do not. So, I bought Evenflo BPA free bottles at target (3 for 2.99). I can use my Dr. Brown inserts and nipples with these.

GL!

Hmmmmmm----I guess this means that Evenflo no longer makes a glass baby bottle. I guess I thought they continued to give mamas a choice.
Have you tried the internet. Maybe someone has some in the attic. The Evenflow rings and nipples should fit.
Good luck!

My daughter has used the Born Free Bottles since almost birth. I have no complaints about them especially now that they are more widely available in stores.

We used the plain old Evenflo glass bottles with my daighter and they worked very well. The only down side is you can't give them to the child in a high chair etc. because they will break if dropped (or thrown) from a distance. The upside - they are $2.50 each!

My baby is 3 months and we have been using the Born Free bottles and I really like them. But more importantly, he seems to like them!!! I would recommend them. They have them at Babies R Us and they are not as expensive as the weego bottles. Hope this helps!

When all the news started about the BPA bottles a couple weeks ago, I got rid of all my VentAire and Dr Browns bottles and was on a mission for glass bottles. Every where I went, they were sold out. I found some BPA-free plastic bottles at Wal-Mart. They're softer plastic than the previous ones we had, but they are 3 in a pack and work great! I even found some nipples in the same area of the store (same brand I believe) that are made for teething babies and my daughter LOVES them (she's got 2 teeth coming in right now)! The bottles are in a 3-pack and are pastel colors (green, yellow, orange) and the front of the package states BPA-free on the front, so you can't miss it (that was helpful). They are Parent's Choice brand.
You might also check any other items you have in your baby collection and contact the manufacturers if they are hard clear plastic. I had to throw out all of the passifiers in our house, as well, after emailing the manufacturer and finding they were also made with BPA, and have purchased new BPA-free ones.
Hope this helps.

We've used the Born Free bottles with my almost 8-month old daughter since she was born and haven't had any trouble. No leaking or any problems like that.

Hi D.!! I'm a baby nurse and I have used the Born Free. They're fine. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, you could always get the Playtex Premium Disposable Nurser with the drop-ins. They're safe too.

Hope this helps!

The Born Free bottles are great! I like it that you can just buy the stage 2 (harder spout) nipples and change them out when your baby is ready for the next level as he/she prepares for a real cup. I highly recommend them!

We are shopping for the same. We used Dr. Browns regular bottles with our toddler. We have tons of parts so we are hoping to use the Dr. Browns new glass bottles or the BPA free when they come out next month. We had a good experience with Dr. Browns. The glass are so heavy when I pick them up at the store and I do worry that my toddler will break them trying to help out (we have alot of ceramic tile) in our house. We make use both the glass and BPA. We were going to go with Bornfree because the reviews were good and then thr Dr. Browns came out.

We recently made the switch as well (we also have an 8 month old). We are using Evenflo glass bottles. They work really well, and they are much cheaper than the other ones. I believe they were about $9 for three bottles (I could be completely wrong on that price. My husband bought the bottles, but I am pretty sure that is what he told me).

I bought evenflo glass bottles (which you can actually find at Burlington Baby Depot at Grapevine Mills). They are much less expensive than born free. I also like the fact that the glass is tempered, so if they do break, there are no sharp pieces. My mother said she used evenflo glass bottles on myself and my brothers and had even dropped a few, but none ever broke. They are pretty tough little things! Hope this helps!
