I also reccomend Weight Watchers. I joined online, so I don't have to attend meetings, because who really has time for that right? (Definitely not me!!) What is really geat about Weight Watchers is that it teaches you to make healthy choices, plus you really can eat anything you want. So I'm never hungry and I do not feel deprived.

I've lost 10lbs in 6 weeks and I'm feeling pretty good. It is reccomended to lose around 2 lbs a week. Remember, however long it took you to gain the weight you have to allow at least half that (if not the same amount of time) to take it off!

Good luck!

i lost a stack of weight on atkins because i like cheese and nice tasty fatty foods.
im sure its not great as a long term diets go because of the high fat content, but its good for a quick weight loss - you can snack on cheese, nuts and fruit, and russell stover sugar free chocolate - which you cant tell the difference between "real"

You've taken the necessary first steps, T., so don't despair!

You mentioned that you "watch what you eat"... and I thought I did, too! Until a personal trainer at my gym recommended something that changed the whole thing for me. Boost your metabolism!

All you have to do is eat 5-6 small, healthy meals each day. Within a few weeks your metabolism should be upped, so your body won't feel the need to hang on to excess fat. You MUST be consistent (harder than it sounds)! That way your body will know to expect food on a very regular basis.

The meal sizes I'm talking about are like snacks... for example a half sandwich and about 10 almonds. Or a yogurt and a small piece of fruit. Think of it as snacking full-time. The great thing... I was NEVER hungry. My challenge was making sure I ate enough, not cutting it down! Try to get in the range of 200-300 calories per "meal".

This worked for me! No diet pill/drink/whatever ever did, and since I upped my metabolism I've dropped over 20 lbs. Good luck!

I also am a chocoholic!!! And also was over weight, then I went to personal trainer and after 2 days with her I called her up and was very upset and mean because I hadn't had any chocolate for 2 days, I did not know what to do with myself!! She totally laughed at me and calmed me down and had good news for me... In my diet I could eat Dove dark chocolate!!!!! I could only have 3 a day but trust from not haing none at all, 3 a day was a huge treat. Just make sure it is the DARK chocolate. Good luck with the dieting, I know first hand how hard it is but once you get to know your body and starting seeing your results it's so worth it!!!

Having spent a total of 12 years either pregnant or nursing, I totally understand this frustration! I spent many of those years 30-50 pounds overweight. When my youngest was about 2, though, I discovered that if I made one small CHANGE at a time, the weight came steadily but slowly off. I had to get out of the "diet" mentality and realize that I had to change my DIET. I stay within 10 pounds of my goal weight now by weighing regularly to see if I need to make any changes. A summary of the changes to date: meat only once or twice a week, ice cream (my big weakness) has changed to Dole fruit bars except for birthdays (which happen fairly frequently around here), whole grains instead of refined, lots of water, learning to fill up on fruits veggies and whole grains and think of meats and sweets as treats. A small change that I've realized this week that I need to make, but haven't made myself do yet, is to stop eating crackers when I get hungry mid-morning and grab a piece of fruit instead. So now, after writing this, I am motivated to do so! Thank you! Blessings to you and on your efforts to be healthy. Oh yes, and don't be too hard on yourself. Your body is not even totally recovered from childbirth, and you are still nursing. When your youngest is about 3 years old, you are suddenly going to feel alive again!

Weight watchers and LOTS of breastfeeding - LOL!!! I have a 15 mo old who I just recently weaned. And boy, have the pounds crept up on me! I was considering going back to the pump to burn up the extra calories! HA HA Anyway, after my son was born, with the breastfeeding and everything, the pounds melted off. And then I followed the WW nursing mother's points. It was very generous in the amount of food I could eat and I thought it was great. I weighed less then than I did before I got pregnant! I highly recommend it. I strongly suggest you attend the meetings though. I know it will seem like just one more thing you need to do during the week, but for me, it made all the difference in the world! It's so great to be in an environment where everyone has a common goal and you can share stories and encouragement.
Good luck!

Hey! I wanted to send you a link to the wonderful program that I've started. I finished my 9 day program a couple of weeks ago and lost 7 pounds in 9 just days. This morning, I started my 30 day program and hope to lose at least 15-20 additional pounds after 30 days. When I was first introduced to Isagenix, I was very leary b/c I figured it was just another "diet", but once I actually completed the program, I found that it truly works and is also good for you! Take a look:

well you really really have to watch what you eat. i eat six small meals a day. if you think about it, just eat enough at one of those meals just to satisfy the hunger and stop. like a banana or apple for one meal. also if you want to lose the weight you have to walk at least five or six days a week for no less than thirty minutes. it took a long time to put the weight on and it will take time to get the weight off. give it the time it needs. good luck!

Hi, T.

I agree with some of the girls. Eat little but often and if you really want to lose that weight then, you need to do cardio for at least an hour. I've been struggling with my weight for about a year. I was size 2 and in a very good shape. I used to go to the YMCA and do Body Pump so, I had good muscles. But, I had to start an antidepresive treatment due to a chemical imbalance and gained 10 pounds. Finally, in two weeks I lost 5 pounds by working in my elliptical machine minimum 3 days a week for 90 minutes each time. I'm limiting my calories and I crave for sweets less and less by the day. In the beggining, it is difficult but once your body and mind get use to it then, it is much easier. Think about it! Let us know if that works for you.

I forgot to mention, I am 33 years old and I am 5.2 "short" :). I am a mother of two boys 11 and 6. My lowest weight has been 110 lbs. and my highest 135. I am currently 123 lbs. and trying to lose at least 3 more pounds. By the way, pilates worked great for me after my second child. Good luck!

Hey T.,
You may want to check with a nutritionalist. I too worked out every day for at least 30 min and eat very well. I luckly am not one that is tempted by sweets. I could not loose a single a pound until I found out the reason why I wasn't loosing. I found out that in order for my to loose weight I have to eat more. Crazy huh! My body doesn't get enough calories so it thinks I am starving it. I have to set a timer and eat every four hours in order for me to loose anything. Last month I lost 10 pounds by doing this. This month already 4. It's crazy!

Hi T.,

I love your about me section!!! That is great! About the weight, I am about 30 lbs over wieght still since my 3rd baby. and he is 18 months old!!!! I have tried everything as well. Diets of all kinds, even fasting. Work outs, curves, gyms, and even weight watchers. like you said, it comes off just a little and then packs right back on. I fluxuate that 5 lbs all the time! It is very frustrating. Recently I went to the dr to see if something medically was wrong with me and they did a thyroid test. Apparently kids can mess your thyroid up as well as giving you stretch marks, saggy bussoms, and tired eyes. They can put you on medicine, although it is very expensive and some insurances don't cover it, like mine. My thyroid is running super slow so that is prob why i can't get the weight off. It may be your problem as well. It might be something that you would want to look into.

I wish you luck and if anyone has any other advice please pass it my way. Have a great evening and God Bless!!!

I have just the thing for you. work from home!!!

WEIGHT WATCHERS! I am 5 ft 2 in and I weighed 158 lbs before I got pregnant(s 12-14). At my highest in pregnancy I was 186. I got back down to the 158 lbs shortly after. I have always been heavy even through highschool. I decided to do weight watchers. I have been on the program for 1.5 yrs. I have lost 32 lbs. I am a size 4 and have maintained it for a yr. and will continue to maintain it. I am sad to say I didn't exercise at all since I had her. I'm gonna hit that hard starting tomorrow. It's easy you just have to do it. Oh, by the way, I also quit smoking cigs in the midst of all that and still kept the weight off. GOOD LUCK!!START TOMORROW!!

I am 33 and a sahm and practice real estate. I have one girl will be 2 on the 28th. I am smaller than I have been since I was 13...WOW.

I have to agree with Jen below about boosting your metabolism with the small meals. I have also done that by the type of exercise I do. I exercise 2 to 3 times a week at the gym doing trekking. It is a workout on the treadmill. You do a fast pace then slower pace...fast pace...slower pace over the course of about 40 to 45 minutes. This jump starts your metabolism also. I have dropped 15 pounds and haven't really changed my eating. (But need to!!) You can imitate this type of work out while walking your neighborhood. Walk a couple of minutes at a comfortable pace then walk 30 sec to 2 minutes at the fastest pace you can walk or a slow jog. And repeat over and over the length of your walk.

Good luck. I am still nursing myself and it is tough for my body to let go of those last pounds. I know when I stopped nursing my oldest I dropped 10 pounds without doing anything. I think my body just held that weight to help with milk production. At least that is what I am telling myself...:-)

Let us know how you are doing...hang in there we are all trying to do the same thing. {{{{hugs}}}}

T., I totally understand where you are at! It is very frustrating after trying to lose weight and nothing seems to work. As of right now, I have lost over 50 lbs and have kept it off for over 4 years! I watch what I eat, keep a tight eye on correct nutrition, and I take supplements. My family does the same thing. I have always enjoyed exercise, but did not incorporate it when I was in the nitty gritty of losing the extra weight. I took/take Herbalife supplements and drink their shakes, and I will be on this for the rest of my life! It is totallly amazing how your body responds to good nutrition! Since then, I have built up a personal home business, and we are all thriving on it! I love Herbalife! If you are interested or know anyone else who might be, I would be thrilled to talk with you/them! THis isn't herba-monthly, or herba-weekly, this is Herba-LIFE!
