I was reading in my books that I should start looking or enrolling in some Childbirth classes. Does anyone know of any close to Wyoming, Michigan area? My husband and I would love to attend. If you don't know of any, do you think my doctor should know? Thanks for your help and advice in advance. We greatly appreciate it.

What can I do next?

I took the class at spectrum though I must say I thought it was a waist of $$
I learned more by the books I read.
But if you would like to take it,its available at the downtown spectrum hospital area. Good luck!!

Congrats! I would suggest calling the hospital where you plan to deliver your baby girl. If you attend a class there it will also help familiarize you with the hospital, include tour etc.. But, your Dr. should be able to point you in the right direction as well.

Good Luck!

Hi M.! I also live in Wyoming and just had twins. I delivered at St. Mary's (I used to work there, so felt comfortable going there). The hospital that you plan on delivering at should offer the classes. Usually to enroll you call the scheduling department, or the operator and they will transfer you to where you need to be. There is a charge, but a lot of insurances will pay for it. I know they offer a lot of other classes in addition to birthing classes, such as breastfeeding classes. Hope this helps and congrats to you and your husband!!!

Talk to your doctor - they'll be able to sign you up. The new Metro Hospital in Wyoming has a ton of resources available, too if you want to ask around. Good luck!

Spectrum has some (www.spectrum-health.org), it's part of their community classes. I think just about all of the hospitals that deliver babies offer classes - you might want to check to see with your doctor's office or the hospital you plan to deliver at.

M., my husband and I had just had our first baby 4 months ago and we took the childbirth prep class through Spectrum Health. We loved it and quite often your insurance will pay for it. If you are planning on breastfeeding I would also recommend the breastfeeding class. Another helpful one is the childseat safety course. You would be amazed at how many things are out there that should not be used on/with you child's carseat. You can find these online at www.spectrum-health.org. Good Luck!

I took the childbirth classes through Metro Health Hospital which would probably be closest to you. Spectrum also has classes. I would go to the classes of the hospital where you will deliver the baby since they usually have a tour of the birthing unit included in the classes. You can just call the birthing unit of the hospital and they can connect you to the right people to schedule your classes.

I agree with Jennifer. We delivered both girls at Spectrum Health's Butterworth Campus and had a great experience their. We were actually required by our OBGYN to participate in a class with our first daughter, and because of our delivery location did go with Spectrum's class. It was a good class to attend. Although it is not in the hospital (you do get a tour though), it is very close by and not that hard to find. If you are going to deliver at Spectrum, I would recommend using their website. If not, check with your doctor to see what they recommend. You don't want to do it to early, but also don't want to wait to late (we actually had to go into the hospital for pre-term labor the week after we did the hospital tour).
