I live downtown, and don't have a car. Does anyone know of any bakeries or stores downtown that make a nice baptismal/christening cake?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I ended up ordering a cake from Bake For Me at 350 N Clark and they did a great job. They made a white cake with roses and a small gold cross placed in the roses. Everyone loved it and it tasted delicious!

I regularly order for work events and family birthdays from Bake For Me. They have 2 locations (Roosevelt Road near University Village) and near north around Harry Caray's, I believe. They will deliver for about $10 and I would recommend almost any of the flavors except Tiramisu. The designs are exceptional and they make any adjustments you would like as far as decorating. They have a website, but if you are able to go in and look at their books, they have alot of designs to choose from.

Sarah's pastries on Oak St. has wonderful cakes and I know that they have numerous options for filling and cake flavors. Check out their website www.sarahscandies.com. The Oak street menu will list all of the cake and filling options. Fyi- almond is great.

I found this wonderful women a few years ago. She does not have her own bakery, but rents space at one and makes wonderful, beautiful and afforadable cakes and cupcakes. I use her for any and all special occations. Best of all she will deliver right to your door. She lives in Roscoe village area and will deliver downtown and to the suburbs. You can reach her at:

Hi A.,
I don't know of any bakeries downtown, but if public transportation is an option, you might consider Take the Cake. They did our wedding and anniversary cakes. Mary Winslow is amazing, but it's very pricy. They're located close to the Green line stop at Ashland. (If you can get a ride from someone or have someone pick up the cake, Sweet Mandy B's does a great job for a good price. Depending on how many people the cake will serve, I know lots of people who get their special-event cakes at Costco!) Good luck.
