The Paraguard is a good option. There are no hormones, so it shouldn't affect your moods or sex drive. A few men say they can feel the stick, but it's very rare, especially in missionary position where penetration isn't as deep.
If you have heavy or painful periods, Paraguard can make them worse.
You do need to make sure you understand how it works as well. It's not an ovulation suppressor like hormonal BC methods. It's an abortive device. You could get pregnant every month if you have sex around ovulation. It works by thinning the lining of the uterus so that when a fertilized egg implants, it can't be sustained. Not a big deal to many women, but some believe that life begins at conception and that termination isn't ok. So I try to make sure women understand exactly how it works before they get it and find out later.

Planned parenthood offers vasectomies at no cost to those who don't have insurance or can't afford to get the surgery done.
They're safe, legitimate and you won't have to worry anymore. :)

Paraguard doesn't effect either your sex drive or lubishness... it's placed in your uterus, which has no part in female ejaculation.

I'm also 29. I have the Mirena IUD. I have had no negative sexual side effects at all. I have heard people say they have had a hard time losing weight with it in, but I personally think they might be attributing something to the IUD that is more about trying to lose weight in general :-)

I'm not overweight, but I did start working out after not having done so in a couple of years and I toned right up and dropped a clothing size.

I didn't have a period for the first two years I had it in which was fantastic (after the initial bleeding a little spotting in the next couple of months) but now I've starting getting a two day period, but still nothing to complain about.

I have insurance through the state right now (HIP) and they pay 100% of my nuvaring- that is the only thing I can use since all of the generic birth control pills make me very sick (due to the "binder" ingredients used) and they will not pay for name brand.

When considering permanent sterilization I too say it is time for hubby to take one for the team and get snipped. Realizing that is not what you are talking about here is my 2 cents. My experience on the pill too was that of a crazy lady, just lock me up and throw away the key. Based on that my Dr recommended the IUD and after some research I was a bot sacred of the side effects and I didn't want to have to pay for it only of it to be a dud. After expressing the concern to my Dr. she put me on Mononessa 28. It is not a phasic pill meaning different hormones depending on where you are in your cycle it is the same hormones every day except for your off week. It has worked really well for me.

Get the Hub fixed.....thats what I am planning on doing.
Its a one day in office procedure...they are "sore" for about a day...and thats it!!!
I told my Hub that he could either do THAT , OR, sleep with one eye open....!!!!

Hello, look up the Essure procedure. I had it done (insurance paid) and am very glad because I didn't want a tubal either. It's in and out /same day. They put tiny spring coils in your tubes and scar tissue builds around them. It is permanet birthcontrol. It's been in the US about 10 years and in France alot longer. Was painless and even watched them do it on the TV screen. Hope this helps, A.

Just to let you know, in case you change your mind later, if BC pills make you crazy because of the hormones, seriously look into the side effects of getting tied because it could very well do the same thing, and unless you spend tons of money, it's pretty much something you are stuck suffering through for life.

I'm on Mirena and I love it ... I don't have periods any more, just occasional spotting.

I know some women have great experiences with the IUD, but mine was terrible. I passed out twice the day I got it (which is normal in some patients). I couldn't quit shaking either. It was really scary since I was home alone with my 3 month old. Then, I had the general spotting as expected. However, every time I spotted, I felt like I was getting a full blown period; bloating, headaches, backaches, and cramps that made me nauseous. I eventually had it taken out 5 months because even though my period had almost disappeared, I felt like I was on it at least 3 weeks out the month. I just couldn't take it anymore. They say it can take 6 months for your body to adjust to it. I tried to keep it in and adjust to it since we spent $300 on it. After 5 months though, it wasn't even a little better, so I couldn't see how one more month would make a difference. I also kept getting painful cysts that came and went every month. Needless to say, between the pain and sickness, I had no sex drive at all. I just wanted to sleep.

I also have a friend who didn't really have many side effects with it, but she is considering getting her taken out just because she has no sex drive at all anymore. She got it in about 8 months ago while her husband was overseas. It didn't matter much then, but now that he is back, she wants her sex drive back.

If your insurance covers most or all the cost, I would still give it a try though. I have known a few girls who have it and love it. I was not one of them, but you never know until you try. Good luck!!
