We had this happen last spring, causing me to do some extensive web research. What worked for me was a combo method: First, I used Zout stain spray (Walmart) .Spray the crayoned spots and leave it on til it dries- this is the whole key!) After the Zout dried, I rewashed the whole load on hot with 2 cups of the detergent, and a cup of liquid oxyclean (Walmart or Target). Let the washer fill up with hot water, leave the lid up and let it soak for 30-45 min before you let it run thru the cycle. I only had to do this once, and it got all of the crayon out. We had washable silk, wool blend slacks, cotton, synthetics, and denim in the wash- all came clean and none were ruined!!!

Hope this helps!

A cleaner called Oil Eater (I bought it at Costco) got crayon off of my carpet like magic. Not sure about the dryer, or clothes that have been dried already, but it's worth looking into.

I'm not sure about Crayon, but scrubbing with a wet dryer sheet got gum out of mine. Not sure about the clothes, though. Good luck!

I just had this happen last month-- blue crayon on an entire load of laundry!! You can clean the inside of the dryer with a Mr Clean Eraser. And for the clothes, spray them with WD-40 and leave them for about 2-3 days. Then wash them with hot water and it will all come out :) I know it sounds weird-- but if you check the Crayola website, that's what it says- I was hesitant- but it really did work!! After you get the crayon out of the clothes, just wash them a couple of times normally to get rid of the WD-40 smell (I added a few tbsp of baking soda). Good luck!!

JUST had this happen to me. i had so much crayon on all the clothes I couldn't have sprayed it all with shout or whatever. I looked a bunch up on line. I used laundry detergent, a couple tablespoons of vinegar, like a scoop of oxi clean, and a few tablespoons of shout. Most of it came out the first wash and then i was able to use stain stick and then some shout on top of that on whatever was left and it took care of everything. I couldn't believe it. My wash had been covered with what looked like a bunch of little razor nicks there was so much crayon.

as far as the dryer...i tried the dryer sheets, the mr clean erasor, and even some wd 40. none of that worked for me. I finally found something that said to use toothpaste. I got the whitening kind (don't know if the person who posted the idea was joking about using that or not but i got it). You let your dryer run for a few minutes to heat it up and then you cover all the crayon with toothpaste and then let it run 5-7 minutes and then take a rag ( i think i dampened it..can't remember to tell you the truth) and then use a little elbow grease. It took out the crayon and also some old blue play dough dye that i hadn't even tried to get out before because i thought it was hopeless. drum looks brand new!

good luck!
