Easter Basket

Bubbles are always fun too....Crayola has colored ones...they are messy, but fun and clean right up...I recently saw that they have glow in the dark ones now too! My daughter will be getting the Hop DVD or blueray, a small bear with small bottle of Loves Baby soft (bought after Christmas @ 70% off..yay!) a "zooble", small Lindt chocolate bunny and a sprinkling of small chocolate eggs. Have fun!

We always theme our baskets. Two years ago my son got a pony so we filled his basket with brushes and such. Last year they were into swimming so we got goggles, balls and other water toys.

This year I am thinking gardening... Seed packets, shovel, watering can.

Last year I put Teddy Grahams in half the eggs and chocolates in the others. My kids love the "Teds". You can get the little single serve of a variety of that kind of stuff to round out an Easter basket. Also fruit cups work well.

I always put books in the Easter baskets. Here's a few other ideas...

a beach towel... kids love having a towel that is just for them, they can use it for bathtime too

My kids are 5 & 7.5 years old. I've always done a little bit of candy because I figure they get candy from other relatives. I will buy them each a chocolate bunny, fill some eggs with candy. Get them a small toy, book, stickers, cute pens.

This year I'm doing the chocolate bunny, some jelly beans in eggs, I got them each cute notebooks to write in and cute matching pens. Some stickers and a puzzle each.

We do little candy, too. Depends on what he's into. A Thomas the Train? Lightning McQueen or other cars. We always put a shirt or piece of clothing. A box of crayons with a coloring book is fun. Bubbles, sidewalk chalk, or other fun summer toys.

I don't do much candy. Last year our son was about your age and we filled his eggs with other things he loves: Annie's bunnies, dried cherries and blueberries, and some chocolate covered raisins as a more special treat. He gets PJs in his basket every year because I always did as a kid (not sure why). Last year he also got a plan toys airplane and a small magnetic fishing rod with fish, plus a few small books. Two years ago he got finger paint and presumably other stuff, but I can't remember what. This year we are thinking about the train/tracks set from Ikea. He's really into trains and the set is only $10. If you want to go with a toy they have some neat stuff for relatively cheap and I've found it to be well made for the price.

wow you got some really good suggestions! i plan on using some ;-) last year was the first time we did easter egg hunts/baskets for my older one, this year she will be 3. i fill the plastic eggs with:
organic gummy bunnies
goldfish/cheddar bunnies
stickers
jelly belly's in just a couple eggs
little rubber lizards/other small bath toys-maybe not this year, she loves that junky stuff, but choking hazard for baby sis

in her basket i also put bubbles, a little disney princess toy, and a pair of plastic sunglasses (kinda random, i know, but cute). i'm not big on a bunch of candy either.

There are some excellent ideas suggested already! I have a few other suggestions. How about a cute t-shirt. I never liked the traditional Easter basket grass and always got a t-shirt to line the basket with. And how about a tooth brush and toothpaste. At the age of 2 my kids always liked a cute little stuffed animal also. And socks. The crazier the better! To this day all my kids love crazy socks and look forward to them for every holiday (Christmas, Easter, Birthday).

You already got some good suggestions. I noticed at our grocery store that they have play-doh filled plastic easter eggs. And you can't go wrong with stickers and a little notebook.

You could make some beet colored hard boiled eggs with your son and have him put them into a basket with cut paper as grass. That way he has a hand in the craft as well as a healthy treat to eat.
