Hi friends,
I am trying to choose a pediatrician and I am due on Monday. We met with both Dr. Waldstein and Dr. Crosby (based on recommendations from our docs and others). Does anyone have any first-hand experience to share on either doctor to help maybe steer us in the right direction? Thanks in advance and best wishes,
J.

I second J. T's recommendation: Dr. Waldstein is wonderful, very knowledgeable, and professional. He is definitely no nonsense, and a little gruff at times, but I feel that all my concerns and questions are always addressed. He's not a hand-holder, but I personally like that, as he just gets right to the point and seems to know what he's doing/talking about. This makes me feel less anxious as a first-time mom! I was referred to him by three other girlfriends, and couldn't be happier. Best of luck to you, and congratulations on your upcoming arrival!

Congratulations, J.! Best of luck to you. I use Dr. Guy Efron who is in Peter Waldstein's office. He's young, totally gets it and is very patient, especially with first time moms. Our son inhaled some fluid during birth and Dr. Guy visited him every day in the hospital during his 5 week stay. He also called us every single morning with a report on how our son was doing, including Saturdays and Sundays. I hear great things about Dr. Waldstein, and I'm sure you can't go wrong there, just wanted to tell you about Dr. Guy in the same office. He's really a treasure.

Good luck!

Hi J.!

I highly recommend Dr. Crosby. We met with three pediatricians before my son was born (three months ago) and chose one. However, this pediatrician did not work in the hospital where I gave birth so my doctor recommended Dr. Crosby for the in-hospital check-ups. We liked her so much that we decided to stay with her, even though her office is further away. What convinced us to work with her is that she is knowledgeable and thorough, extremely empathetic, very patient and happy to explain things to us newbie parents. We went with our "gut feeling," which we got with her and not with any of the other pediatricians we met.

Good luck with your labor! It's a pretty amazing experience!

Dr. Lauren Crosby has been my pediatrician for several years now. I LOVE her! She is the best! My husband and I are very fussy and we trust her completely with our children. She is very knowledgeable, thorough, always errs on the side of caution, well-conncected with excellent referrals, compassionate, attentive, responsive, sensitive, and just an all-around wonderful person.

Hi J.,
I haven't been to these drs, howevery they were both recommended to us by fellow moms, so I bet they are pretty good. We ended up going to Dr. Guy Efron who is in Dr. Waldsteins office and he's AWESOME!!! I have a baby girl and I preferred taking her to a female dr, but I got so many recommendations to see Dr Efron that I decided to give it a try. He's great with her, smart, takes time to listen to all of your concerns. I had to call him the oher day with a question and he called me back right away even though it wasn't an emergency. I can't say enough good things about him!!

Hi, my name is E.. If noone can recommend either the doctor, then my advice would be go with your gut feeling. Ask yourself wich one made you feel more comfortable and took they're time with you. Basically how was they're chair side manner. Did they take the time to talk to you and not at you. Did they seem in a hurry to get to the next patient? Hopefully this will help, you want a doctor that is willing to let you ask questions and make you feel comfortable.

Dr. Waldstein has always been our doctor for our 2 kids (son is almost 4, daughter is 16 months). He is a great doctor. I think he really knows his stuff. But he has an unusual disposition for a pediatrician. He's very no nonsense and business like, a man of few words - kind of reminds my husband and I of a high school coach. The best things about him are: he is always on time! I have never waited more than 10 minutes to see him. That is pretty rare from what I've heard. His office (either him, Dr. Efron, or Dr. Klausner who I also love) can always see your sick child almost immediately after you call. He always takes your calls personally (and immediately) when you have questions about your child. He's never an alarmist and he doesn't tell you too much how to raise your kid. He instills you with the feeling that "everything is good and will turn out fine". The nurses are really sweet there too.
However, if you want someone a little more "touchy, feely" , he's not your man.
I hope this helps you make your decision.
