Feeding a 9 Month Old?

My DS will be 9 months on the 8th of July.

He's on Earth Best Stage 2 foods, and luckily isn't picky at all. He eats anything that I put in infront of him.

I'm getting a bit bored of the sweet potatoe, applesauce, greens, etc.

I have yet to introduce meats or cheeses, yogurt etc.

Anyone have any good transitional food ideas from pureed to semi-solids?

THANKS!

What can I do next?

Hi Mama!
My son is 10.5 months now and a great eater. I just cooked up some lentils (no soaking needed!) the other day for him and mix in some rice cereal to make it a complete protein. I also cook zucchini for him, squash, sweet potatoes (fresh and organic), and today I gave him ground turkey (easy for him to pick up with his fingers- he LOVED it!). There's a good, but somewhat overwhelming book out called Super Baby Food. It's got alot of great food ideas, but can be a bit "too much". I am also tired of the same old things in baby food and want my little guy to have a good variety. You can also give him egg yolks (just the yolks before 1 year)- beware they are very messy! :)

How about some fresh fruits too? Watermelon, peaches, etc. etc! Yogurt is GREAT for babies and doesn't fall into the "no dairy before 1 year" "rule". The probiotics in yogurt are GREAT for their tummies!

Bon Appetit!

Try avocado's, they are so good for them and their developing brains. You can try organic deli meats only before the age of one. Applegate farms is the only brand I know of that is free of sodium nitrates. You can also give cooked pasta noodles with some olive oil for flavor. I gave mine breadsticks, they can suck on them and easy to grasp. Don't forget legumes/beans, be sure to rinse and soak them overnight before giving the beans to them. It helps release enzymes that makes it easier to digest (everyone should do this step) Cook them up in some olive oil, another nice finger food and it mushes in their mouths. My 11m old loves spicey foods, so don't forget to use spices for flavor, if it is bland, she won't eat it. Its not too young to introduce a few spices to them, just a dab will do. Have fun with it!

I fed my twins alot of Baby Yo(it'sorganic),bananas, provolone cheese, mandarin oranges , soft plain pasta(a little butter)etc. They ate alot of these for awhile. Some people give their babies avocado too. Then you can go to puffs and cheerios or bread so he learn how to chew. Some kids like cottage cheese and mashed potatoes but mine didn't like anything that would spread in their mouth in the beginning. Also cake on their birthday was not a hit:( Good luck and keep trying new things to see what he likes. He will tell you :)

My son was the same way. He is know 9.5 months old and he does not eat any baby food what so ever. He eats whatever I eat. He started getting like this about 8 months old. I tried giving him stage 3 foods and he didin't like any of them. So little by little I started to give him solids like motts applesauce, yogurt, cooked broccoli, cooked carrots, even small pieces of chicken breast. He loves it and he does so well eating them. Just go with your gut feeling on what he can handle. Don't let anyone else tell you what to give him because only you know what he will be able to handle.
Good Luck!!
