How much food should I have at a Baby Shower that I am throwing? There will be about
20 - 35 ladies there. So far we are planning on a Veggie Tray, a Fruit Tray, Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, Mini quiches, a Baby Shower Cake, Spinach Dip in a Bread Bowl, and Meatballs and Lil Smokies in the grape jelly/chili sauce (crockpot). I feel like I'm missing some things. Or it just doesn't seem like enough! Please help me!

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much for responding to my question! I ended up having a large vegetable tray, a yummy fruit bowl, pretzel sticks, spinach dip in a bread bowl with tortilla chips to also dip, little weiners, meatballs in the chili/grape jelly sauce in crock pots, a pasta salad, ooey gooey butter cake (similar to chess squares I think!) and an all chocolate baby shower cake that my sister-in-law decorated to match the tableware and decorations. I used a line called "Baby Me" and besides the cute little baby in the middle of the plates and on the wall decs. it was white with medium sized water-color polka dots. So my SIL frosted the cake white and we found fabulous Fondant and cut circles out of it and put them all over the cake and it matched PERFECTLY! I left Thursday night to come down to WPB so unfortunately I didn't get the last few suggestions which were nice! Thanks again for all of your suggestions and if I can ever help anyone else, I am VERY crafty and love to offer suggestions myself!

Why don't you add a cheese platter, you could have several kinds of cheese with crackers in the middle, that is always a hit! Good luck with the shower!

yes, i agree with the other ladies....some kind of sandwiches would be perfect b/c they do fill you up! when i through my best friend a shower we had your choice of chicken salad or tuna salad with crossaints...they were a hit! don't bother making the sandwiches either. just have 2 bowls (one of each salad in them) and then the ladies make their own. also, baked ham with rolls is perfect too. and again, you don't have to go through the hassle of making the sandwich...they will make it themselves. have fun and good luck with the shower!

sounds great. I do usually order the publix subs and have them cut into 1/8 pieces. I arrange and place them on some glass plates. Looks like you are going to have a great baby shower. Well done!

J.....Before you decide on how much food...I think you first need to evualate the theme of the baby shower....I have given several of theme and the food is decided on by the theme and location of the shower...for example....are there going to be tables to eat at or our the guests going to be sitting in their chairs and eating over their laps...I only ask this because at most showers if there is not tables to sit their plates on then you are more prone to have accidents...like tipping their food on themselves, spilling their plates or turning over drink cups....the foods you have listed are great for either way..as they are more manageable unlike a full cource meal....I do like the suggestion of adding quiche... I hope this has helped in some way....C.

I would say that sounds like enough. Just make sure the size of the veggie/fruit trays are large and have a good amount of the meatballs and lil smokies!

Sounds yummy! The only thing I can suggest is chips and salsa. Relatively inexpensive and usually a crowd pleaser.

Hi J.! I have a real easy and great sandwich for your party. I am a vegetarian and just recently I had a party and served these, they are tomatoe sandwiches. I did them using the cookie cutter, mine were heart shaped, but you can use any cutter you want, or use the little breads, like tiny dinner rolls, if you use those, you need to get the plum tomaoes. Anyway, all you do is get regular mayo and with a grater, grate some onions inside the mayo with black pepper to taste, spread the bread with the mayo on both sides and after slicing your tomatoes put them in a paper towel to dry a bit, so the sandwhich won't be mushy. After placing the tomatoe chop up some parsley or basil leaves and sprinkle a bit on top of the tomatoe before closing the sandwhich,, they are delicious and different, not to mention easy. Hope you try them!

J.,

As someone who likes to throw parties and what not, depending on the time of day you may have enough. It sounds like you have it all covered.

Good luck.

Always plan on 20 more people than you have rsvp'd.. so make enough food for atleast 50 ppl.

you could do hot wings.. or a cheese/cracker tray. or mini-begals with a few different cream cheeses.. they have onion/french dip, honey, strawberry.. regular... or what about that chex mix with pretzels and whatnot in it...

and don't forget the drinks. if you have soda, always have a diet soda avail too. but I suggest also having a non-carbonated drink alternative like iced tea, or lemon ade.

Try some small sandwiches, maybe some chicken wings, and not everybody is a cake-eater so how about a small cookie platter.
