I can't answer as to which game is on because there are so many. New Years Day is a HUGE sports day.

We love football, college and pro. We also love college basketball.

It is something we enjoy as a family and family time is important to us.

If there were a big family lunch in the middle of our favorite game, we might just stop by the lunch early or late to visit everyone else briefly.

I'm having a family/friends gathering for New Year's dinner tomorrow, and the Saints game WILL be on at my house. People can watch or not as they prefer.

Oh gosh, so many possibilities with football!! Even my 18 year old daughter has been hooked her entire life and is disappointed she has to work on Superbowl day. She drove five hours each way to see the Chargers play the Ravens a couple weeks ago in San Diego (her boyfriend is a huge Ravens fan). I'm not a football person but a lot of people are and I just accept it. A family lunch just doesn't compare to football this time of year. I just accept it. Sorry!

If it is a family that you love and the event is important, I commend you on putting the question out here to find out what is more important than your invitation. The long term solution won't be discovering what game is playing tomorrow, it will be learning what TEAMS are playing that are important for you to continue making social plans with this tribe. I love watching college bowl games, my husband doesn't give a flip. Tomorrows night game with the Cowboys Vs the Giants is proabably our superbowl...very big deal. Baseball and basket ball we watch if it is a meaningful game, but not like we follow the Cowboys. It is the team loyalty that you should ask about, I am SURE they would love to let you know why they are devoted to that team.

Seeing you are from Houston, there are many possibilities. The Houston Texans are headed for the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys are in the same boat. There is also College football going on. I guess it just depends on the family, but it is getting close to the playoffs. I would guess it has something to do with it.

I am a Denver Broncos fan so there are a couple games I am very interested in. It's the last of the regular season games so there are playoff implications for many teams. We love pro football and considering most of my extended family are nuts I would blow off a family lunch for a game in a heartbeat.
