Does anyone know of a bank that has free online banking and free checking? I want to be able to better manage my money and not have to pay monthly service fees.

What can I do next?

First Convenience Bank- A division of First National Bank of Texas does. They are located in most Kroger stores and also offer a free mastercard debit card. Also a plus, they are open 7 days a week. Hope this helps.

We use WAMU (Washington Mutual) and have been really happy. They of course have free checking, you checks are free, free online banking. You get one free overdraft per year. Free money orders. And its a really NON-intimidating atmosphere. Good luck!

My husband and I have been with Woodforest and have been really happy. You should check them out. Also, they have banks inside of Sams - inside of most walmarts and the walmart banks are normally open 24/7. They are also inside alot of Kroger's stores and branches seem to be everywhere in Texas. When you make a deposit it is normally automatically available to you and they have free checking and online banking. I hope this helps. S.

Capital One does - don't know what the minimums are that you have to maintain though......and they have a coin sorter in their banks that's free of use to their banking customers!! If you have a Gold Tower account ($5,000 minimum) you get free checks AND a free safety deposit box.

We use Wells Fargo. As long as you do direct deposit, or auto transfers from checking to savings it's free. They also do an automatic draft from savings to checkings to keep you from overdrawing. I think Woodforest also has free checking.

I was going to tell you what Greta told you about Wells Fargo, if you have direct deposit it's free, if you don't have direct deposit you have to keep a certain amount as your balance it used to be 800 dollars. Also WoodForest does. They are getting bigger but the original 3 banks were on the East side of town, even though they are growing they have still kept their banker friendly atmosphere. For instance the tellers hands aren't so tied that they can't fix some bank errors for you such as overdrafts. WellsFargo has a 2 a year limit and WaMu tellers can do 4 a day and if the teller is willing can fix them for you.
