Full Cover Bib

I'm looking for a bib that will cover my most of my girls (arms, body, neck) when eating. We just started cereal and baby food and they are messy. Right now I typically strip them to their diaper, but it would be nice to just put a good bib on them that will not allow food to get on their clothing. They are only 5 months, and are on the smaller size. Finding a bib that will do the job is hard. I know they have bibs that cover their arms and top part of their body, but the neck area is my biggest problem right now. I need something that will cover their neck so food doesn't get on their colar. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

one step ahead has a few full body bibs that are easily washable. Also a company called bumpkin's offers one.\

Those bibs that are plastic with the little tray work great..or a paint smock can be made out of a pillow case. velcro the one seam near the neck and easy on and over head and washable. another cute thing to make with a pillow case is a pillowcase dress and since you have a girl..go n ebay punch in pillowcase dress they are so cute... When I had my daughter on eof my friends made me some bibs which worked wondeful. You take a large dish towel and cut out a circle large enought for her head to fit through, then you cut off the top of a turtle neck and sew it in, this way it fits snuggly around the neck and covers most of the child. I love them, plus you can design your own and they are realativly cheap to make, I bought turtle necks at a second hand store so the entire project only was about $2.00 a bib.

Get some long-sleeved shirts, onesies, whatever that fit them, and cut the back/bottom out. Voila.

You could try a small plastic art smock.

We took old towels and cut neck/head holes in the middle. They slipped over their heads like tunics, and washed up easily.

You should try cotton "flour sack" towels. I bought mine at Target in the kitchen towel department. They come in many colors, and are large enough to cover an antire toddler. My daycare lady recommended them a year ago, and they work like a charm. You just take two corners and tie them in a not around their neck. My son, who is 2, still can't get them off on his own either! People laugh when he wears them because he looks like he's waiting for his big BBQ rib dinner.

Try getting a long bib and tuck it into the front part of the highchair if possible. I had a highchair that had 2 trays and the top tray would snap onto the bottom part, making it very easy to tuck something into it. That helps alot if you can find a way to tuck it up off their clothes. Or, try a large shirt of your hubby's or yours, or even an older siblings shirt that you could slip up and over them while eating...and still use a bib.

My kids were never messy eaters, but we waited to start solids till 6 mos. and they ready? Maybe they are pushing too much food out of their mouths? We got full cover bib at USA Baby but have always used it for a fingerpaint smock, but it does have a really high neck. Good Luck!

Use some of the receiving blankets I'm sure you have lying around. This is what I've started to do at home, and what we do at the daycare I work at. As long as you get it tied tight enough around the neck, no food should get there. With some foods (I know carrots seems to be a bad one) you might want to tuck a washcloth in the top of the shirt so the shirt doesn't still get stained.

have you thought of taking a turtleneck - in a size or two too large - and cutting up the back of it so you can just slip it on them? that would cover neck, chest and arms. put velcro or ties on the back of it to keep it somewhat closed.

We love using Body Bib brand. The material is soft and it is easy to wash. We bought it online at http://www.bodybib.com but also saw it on Amazon.

Wow, that seems young to start with food. Is that what doctors are recommending now? At that age, I might have put rice cereal in their bottle but I don't remember doing baby food until 7 or 8 months. It was easier then because they had more gross motor skills so they sat a little more still.
