Hi All!

A few years ago, when living in CA, I took my young daughters for a two night stay in So CA. We visited Legoland, but primarily just enjoyed the hotel pool and each other. We stayed at a nice hotel and had dinner and room service. They thought the fluffy robes were the best! The still talk about the mommy/daughter weekend we had. This will be our first summer in TX and I want to do this with them again. Does anyone have suggestions of places and nice hotels that are within a two hour drive of the DFW area? My kids are between 8 & 11 years old.

Added: I forgot to mention, we have a family weekend planned at the Great Wolf Lodge over the summer.

Thanks a bunch!!!

What can I do next?

I second Great Wolf Lodge. Indoor waterpark, salon perfect for mommy-and-me beauty pampering, interactive game, plus lots of other fun stuff.

Hi P.,
I know it's further away then you asked for but the place I 've taken my kids was to Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede. My stepson was 7 when we went to the one in Myrtle Beach SC. He never took his eyes off the show and the show is a dinner show and you eat everything with your fingers from soup to apple turnover. My 3 year old daughter was the same way when we went to the one in Pigeon forge TN. The closest to you would be Branson Missouri. It's a great show from preshow to the end. Hope you can see it. H.

Great Wolf Lodge!

if you are looking for something other than GWL, the Hilton at Southlake Town Square is beautiful and there are some fun places to shop there. I've stayed there and it is very luxurious for my standards. lots of good food and shopping, you can shop Town Square or head over to Grapevine Mills Mall. both have a Movie theater too.

Rough Creek Lodge is fun, rustic but nicely so, and within the 2 hour window. I also think it is close to the dinosaur tracks and wildlife park if you want to do get out and those. Also even though it is more than 2 hours away by car, san antonio has the hyatt hill country resort. I heard it is awesome and via southwest airlines only 1 1/2 hours away. Via car 4 1/2-5 hours.

Have you thought about the Gaylord or the Great Wolf Lodge? Those are super close. Finally, if your girls like soccer or baseball, you could stay in Frisco and go to a game.

Have fun with the girls weekend!

I have to echo the Great Wolf Lodge option. It is a GREAT experience and while I have sons, there is a super cute salon geared towards kids, but moms can definately indulge too!
