Gift Ideas for Newly Born Twin Girls

I will be seeing my new nieces in a few weeks and I want to give them something special. I initially wanted to make one of those tie fleece blankets for each of them but I know they have already received one from their other Aunt and besides I am not very crafty or have a lot of time. I could just go out and buy them clothes but I wanted to do something more personal; something special that they could keep and/or cherish for years to come or something that shows I put some thought into the gift. Also I don’t have a lot of money to spend. Do you have any ideas for me?

What can I do next?

When my sister's twins were born, I bought them plain wood blocks that spelled their names - the kind you could get at Michael's or Joann Fabrics. Then I painted hers girly colors and his primary colors. Didn't take a lot of time or craftiness. They're now 14 and still have the blocks up in their rooms. Good luck!

I'm a huge fan of Etsy.com, which has all handmade goods. They have things like necklaces or bracelets that could have names on them, personalized signs, personalized piggy banks, or personalized baby block (which a friend recently gave to another friend and I thought was really neat! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=33576868&...)

You can find a large range of prices, but it takes a little time to look!
Good luck!

Wow, for a child that small, that's tough. Since they are twins, I would suggest something with their names. You might go here, they have gifts for babies under 20.00. http://www.personalizationmall.com/StoreByPrice.aspx?stor... Or you could go to a Things Remembered store at a mall and see if you can find something there that is cute and can be engraved.
I'm sure you will find something. I know you can get pictures put on pillows and throws at Wal-Mart, but I don't know what this costs and it probably varies per area.
Congratulations on being an Aunt of twins! Good Luck!

No money to spend M. I would say just spend time with them and baby sit for the mother. Take pictures and create a small photo album.
$1 store photo album
$7 disposible camera (if you don't have a digital)

you can add pictures all the time as they grow. At this age they don't know what they are getting but the things I mentioned above is priceless.

Enjoy.

I agree with Jenine D. Give the new mom your time and babysit, do the laundry, clean the house, walk their dogs, etc. Take photos and make an personalized album. A mom of twins won't have much time or sanity to do so.

My kids love their personalized CD: http://www.nameyourtune.com/ You can put 2 names on one CD, and then the names alternate by song. Otherwise, I would vote for something else personalized with their name -- small blankie, burp cloth, hat, bath towel/beach towel, etc. Getting their birth announcement framed would also be a nice keepsake.

Diapers.com offers a small pillow that can have their names put on. My company got one of these for my daughter and I love it.

What about hand/foot print kits? I did one for our daughter that is a plaster type material but much easier to use and not at all messy. I got mine at Babies R Us. I have also seen kits that use paint and canvas and kits that also have a picture frame. I've seen them at craft stores, Target, and online. I think most of them that I have seen are in the $10-25 range.

I have twin girls and some of the things I liked best are cute picture frames w/ 2 slots (need one for each girl) and we put a picture of each girl the day they came home from the hospital and attached a birth announcement to the back of each. One can be displayed and one can be put in the other child's keepsake box.

I also bought a really neat 'briefcase' for each baby - it came w/ pre-made holders for SS card, birth certificate, I made one to file away bonds that people bought the girls and most importantly their records from the first year of Dr's appointments. Very helpful to have one place to go to when all this stuff is needed. Here is a link - it even has a cute place on the front for a picture! http://www.organizedfromthestart.com/

The other thing I would do for them is create a little book where they can write down each child's mild-stones (sitting up, walking, etc.) We didn't have the time or the energy to make sure we captured all of these and we've actually been asked this information re: history of the kids. We knew they hit them all w/in the normal guidelines and just used those date ranges but it would have been nice (not to mention less embarrassing!) to have had all of the correct dates for each girl.

Buy them a bunch of classic children's books in board book form -- nothing is more important than reading to your children from the very beginning!

What about those necklaces that fit together...like each one is half of a heart, or half of some other design. I remember having one when I was little and my best friend had the other half. That would be something very special for twins, and something they could keep forever

Here's an example : http://www.findgift.com/gift-ideas/pid-195370/
This one says Big Sis on one necklace and Lil Sis on the other, but I'm sure you could find other options and maybe even places that would personalize necklaces for you

Here's one that is pretty and simple and could be bought for each girl:
http://gifts.redenvelope.com/necklaces/sistersnecklace-19...

And personalized "name" crosses like these would be nice: http://www.seventhavenue.com/Personalized-Name-Cross-Pend...
This one can have up to seven letters...so each girls initials would fit like this with spaces included " XX & XX "
Obviously those are a little spendy! Maybe someplace has them cheaper if you looked. I just think it would be a good gift for twins

Can you afford two silver charm bracelets? Look online...and then give them a charm every birthday. The charms don't cost too much.

Personalized hand-painted piggy banks. My daughter received one for a baby gift. It has her name, birthday and a pretty design painted on it. It's really cute and something she can always keep.

Hi M.!

I am a Mom of 3mo old twin girls & one of our relatives gave us these really neat gifts...they are "birth certificate holders" - they are kinda a tube shaped pc & stand. We received 1 for ea girl...I thougt it was a really, unique gift idea & had never seen them before. I will look online to see if I can find a site for you & post back. Not sure of $ either.

Ok...just googled "infant/baby birth certifcate holder"...lots of sites have them, in fact Target (online) even sells them...range from $20-30 ea. I know, not the cheapest gift...it's hard buying for twins, double the $. Don't know if you like the idea, but I think it's kinda neat! Good luck & congrats!!!

I have 4 y/o twin girls and someone bought them really nice Piggy banks with their names on them. They didn't get a whole lot of use until recently but they were cool. Babysitting so mama can get a break is always appreciated too. or maybe make them a box to keep all their baby keepsakes in. You can get wooden ones at Hobby Lobby or JoAnne's fairly inexpensive.

My mom made each of my kids' names out of sticky felt, you can buy at any craft store. TOO CUTE! I put them on their walls...and then "the boys" and "Lil' Sis" on the outside of their bedroom doors. The felt is cheap and super easy to cut. Then when ever mom wants she just peals off the back and sticks it wherever she wants! Might be cool. Do they have their room already decorated? You could pick matching colors?

It is to bad that the other auntie made the blankets...those are so comfy cozy and cute. Well whatever you decide are you gonna get one something pink and the other something purple? My sis and I are 2 years and 1 day apart so we shared b-days...and we each always got a color...I was purple! I would get the purple doll, sis would get the pink doll, etc.

Congrats! I LOVE and CHERISH being "Auntie"
