We are planning to move to SA this coming summer. I've been there once before, but am not quite familiar with the areas, but did like the North part. We will be spending 10 days in March looking for a house and or at least an area that we like. I would like to know what public schools have good reputations. My sons are 5, 6 & 8. I've been researching on the internet, but would love to hear some suggestions. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for all the helpful information. The most important thing is that the schools are good. We are in SE Orlando which is about 20 minutes from Downtown and the closest large shopping center/mall. There is a small shopping center about 5 minutes away and more are being built. We are on 2 wooded acres in a 4/3 house with pool. We are looking for something similar. Definitely not a fixer upper. My DH is much pickier than I am regarding the neighborhood. We saw some beautiful new neighborhoods last year in February(do not remember the names), but the homes were close together and he doesn't like that. There were also gated communities with larger lots, but since we did not make appointments we couldn't get in. I've seen some listings in the zip codes 78261 which we liked and 78258. It's a bit overwhelming. I want to research as much as possible before we go in March. We will be there less than a week.

Hi! I agree that NISD and NEISD have great schools. My children attend Colonial Hills located off of 410 and Vance Jackson. The principal and the teachers are awesome there. My children are in a Dual Language class and really are benefiting from it. They are learing Spanish and also have class in English. If you have any questions you can email me at ____@____.com

The Stone Oak are in North Central San Antonio has the best schools hands down.
Hi, I work for North East ISD and my kids attend school in this district and I love it! There are not so great sections of North East ISD but try to stay closer to 1604 and Judson or 1604 and Stone oak Parkway. I was born in Ft. Lauderdale and we just moved from Ocala, Florida about 1 1/2 years ago. I think you will love it here!

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with NEISD.
Wetmore Elem. is an AWESOME school. It is located in the Thousand Oaks. Jones Maltsberger area. The principal and teachers there are top of the line!

How exciting!
There are several wonderful school districts. My absolute favorite (because I went there) ;o) would be Alamo Heights. AH is an excellent College Prep school. Second, would be the Schertz/Cibolo, Clemens High School, area. Not far from Clemens is the new Steele High School area. If your Husband is willing to commute, if he will be working in San Antonio, is New Braunfels. There are two high schools in NB; New Braunfels and New Braunfels, Canyon. Both are excellent schools. In my opinion, the best elementary school would be Hoffman Lane Elem.
You'll also find great housing in the Stone Oak area but the traffic in that area is Horrible! I find it a lovely place but very stressful.

Not sure what price range in housing you are looking for but Olmos Park in AH is awesome. They are older and some historical homes. There are a few new home communities in Lincoln Heights off of Broadway, in AH.
In Schertz, you can find many new home communities off of FM3009/Roy Richard Drive.
In the Steele area, you can find many new home communities off of FM1103 right off of IH35N.
New Braunfels has beautiful communities spread out all over. River Chase is gorgeous. You should take a drive through Gruene off of FM306; exit 191 North. You might also want to take a drive up FM306 and drive down Hoffman Lane and past Hoffman Lane, where you'll find River Oak and River Chase. There are two new home communities off of exit 193 that are very close to the highway for easy commute.

Well, I don't like to brag, but you've twisted my arm :) We live in a quiet, nice neighborhood, in north west San Antonio. My boys attend Carlos Coon Elementary. You will be able to visit the web site. They've enjoyed it a bunch! I've seen this public school give a great deal of thier attention to my children not just as teachers, but people who are really looking out for my boys in the future. My boys used to be in a private school and let me tell you I was very upset because I thought they were recieving the best where they were attending. This school has really made me open my eyes. Not to mention northside independent school district is the best in San Antonio and that's not just an opinion it is a Fact!! The homes in our subdivision are appraised btwn 95,000 -129,000. You can't really put a price on your childs education, but it means alot to know that your children are taken care of when you're not around.
