Hi ladies! I'm needing some homemade baby food recipes that you/your baby love. I'm trying to gather some for a project I'm putting together and also because my youngest just turned 6mo and I'm wanting to make my own instead of buying it. Thanks in advance!!

What can I do next?

I made my son's babyfood from the time he was 5/6 mo until he was at least a year. I now have a 3 mo old and will make hers as well.
It's so much fun, easy, and you know what you're putting in your baby!!

Definitely get some ice cube trays. Once frozen, put in freezer bags, label and date.

I started with basic one ingredient foods: peas, green beens, squash, sweet pot. apple sauce, bananas, peaches, etc.

When making, i steamed (on the stove) my veggies/fruit until very soft. I put them in blender (with water if needed).
I now have this and am so excited and can't wait to use it!

It steams, blends, defrosts and heats homemade babyfood!

For cookbooks, i loved Annabel Karmel: http://www.annabelkarmel.com/

Good luck!

I make my own baby food too, and honestly I just do straight up veggies and fruit, no real recipes. Here's what I do...I usually just buy fresh or frozen (frozen is much easier with just as many nutrients, but sometimes I can't find what I want in frozen). I buy those ziplock steam bags and steam the veggies. Then I put them in my blender, hit puree and add water until it's the consistency I want. I put them in ice cube trays and freeze them until solid. Then I put each veggie or fruit inside a freezer ziplock bag labeled with it's name and store them that way. It takes about 20-40 seconds to defrost a couple cubes, depending upon what they are. Sometimes I do mix up the different things just to provide variety, but mostly with fruits. I usually do peach/banana or peach /plum. Banana also helps to make the fruit ones thicker. Another tip is to buy natural applesauce with no sugar added...it's easier than making your own. Also, canned pumpkin is really great too, just make sure it's not pumpkin pie mix, only 100% pumpkin. I don't really know if this is what you're looking for, but hopefully some of it helped! Good for you for making your own...you will be amazed and how easy and cheap it is!!

I ditto Tori here. Simple and easy. You'll be amazed at how neon green your peas will be compared to store bought. I always wondered why theirs were almost brown in color!

I'll just add squash and sweet potatoes. My kids loved squash, acorn and butternut.....and the sweet potatoes require a bit more water as it starts out THICK!
good luck!

My sister got me the Fresh Baby Cookbook and I loved it. It came with two sealable ice cube trays which was really convenient. And the book goes through the food by age and recommends good combinations of fruits and vegetables. You can find it on Amazon:

Another thing to do for ideas is look at baby food bottles and see what combo's they use.

I microwaved fresh or frozen veggies in a covered casserole dish with a little water. Then when pureeing I just added water as needed. If it's too watery add some rice cerial.

Another great resource is:

I loved feeding homemade food. It wasn't difficult and I felt like I was doing something great for my kids :) Enjoy!

I used this site for inspiration:

Also, my little one's pediatrician highly encouraged me to use store-bought baby cereal, as it has added iron.
I made almost all of my daughter's baby food. I just took the regular food- for example- a carrot- and cooked it, then pureed it. I sometimes had to add water to get the right consistency. She really liked the food!

Oh I make mine and a big favorite with my little one is avocado with peas. Just cook 1 /2 cop fresh or frozen peas until they are softened. Put 1/2 of a ripe avocado chopped into the food processor and add the peas plus 4-5 tbs of the water you cooked the peas in the food processor and puree.

To get started, you just need to start cooking! Dice up those veggies and fruits, steam them and puree them. I freeze my food in ice cube trays.

Last week, I also baked an acorn squash with diced apple in it. My son loved it.
