My cuz just opened a pizzeria & I want to get him a special gift. My idea was to have an artist paint the logo & name of the place on a large pizza shovel & hang it on the wall by the pizza maker. My questionn is....where do i find an artist that will do this for me?

What can I do next?

I am in Seattle or I would LOVE to do it!

Art....It's what I do.

Go to your Local Community College. Go to the Art Department and start asking. Professors.....People walking out of class rooms.

They All normally will have Portfolio's, they would probably LOVE to show you.

I am working with Professors right now on a few projects and I am not even in classes...so this is a department that is always looking for work....From inside and outside the school....

Best place to start looking:)

That is a very sweet Gift and Sentiment:)

Check on etsy. There are all sorts of custom craft painters who would be happy to do the job for you - and you can check their ratings on etsy which is nice because you're not hiring someone with completely no references.

art museums and galleries have local artist's names and numbers.
if they won't do it, they might know someone who would.
also, if you see a mural you like, contact that person.
I LOVE MURALS and think this is an awesome gift.

You could look on Craigslist in your area. Just be sure to look at samples of their work and make sure it's the quality you're looking for! Never pay in advance. Only upon delivery, or possibly a deposit up front. If you have to give a deposit up front, try to use paypal or a credit card. That way you're protected.
Also, try sign shops - some of them, especially the ones that have been around awhile, handpaint signs and they'd be able to do it for you.

Go to the local colleges and check with their art dept's, I'm sure you can find many talented students willing to do something like this at a very reasonable price!

Craig's list may also be a good place. We also have some art schools here where you probably get a student to give it a try. Check any art supply stores and you may find the artist of your choice there. Or even a local art galery where you could inquire of the director and possibly find someone.

That is a wonderful idea and gift for your cousin.

You can advertise it as a 'creative gig" on craigslist.

You can also find an airbrusher in your area.

You could also call an art school (Is there an Art Insititute near you) and ask for a recommendation.

Well if you lived in Houston I could be there today!...but when i get work for this kind of freelance painting it is usually word of mouth.

Ask your friends to recommend someone.
