I work for a cleaning company and we use Solve Oil. It works great for anything I have tried, but I haven't tried mustard personally. The way it removed gum in 2 seconds just floored me. Best of luck
Stanley Steamer Spot cleaner gets out everything. It's the same stuff they treat spots with before cleaning your carpet. My mom just called and they delivered it to her door.
I was told that most professional carpet cleaning agents use a main ingredient of peroxide. I know it is also good for getting out blood on carpet/clothes. It will not stain your carpet, but I would try it on a smaller area first anyway. Good luck. I am curious to see what works!
PLEASE don't use bleach - regardless of the color! White carpet has so many different color bases and you'll leave your carpet spotty still! Unfortunately mustard is truly the ONLY thing that you really cannot remove from carpeting. There are VERY few carpet cleaners in the country who actually use the ultraviolet light to remove mustard - it's a complicated, tedious, multi-day process. Read: expensive. SO, I can best recommend that you look to a closet that has the same carpet and cookie-cut a patch out. Make sure that the nap is running in the same direction when you patch it in. If the mustard is not just a spot and you want to go the ultra-violet light process, contact the IICRC. (www.iicrc.org) They are the "Bar Association" for carpet cleaners and can hopefully recommend someone who is certified in spotting in this area. Good luck!! If it all comes down to be too cost prohibitive, that may be a good place for a new area rug:)
My favorite laundry trick is to use Cascade dishwashing powder. Pour some on the stain, and then pour a little bit of water over it to dampen it. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then gently scrub it with a scrub brush or sponge. (I use a Scotch Brite Dobie Cleanind Pad.)
As with anything, you should probably test it in a 'hidden' place first to make sure it won't discolor or damage your carpeting.

well,i don't think you want to use oxyclean, i did that once (beige carpets), and had very noticable bleach spots and i didn't use alot of oxyclean in the water. my son had gotten mustartd on our carpet once & i used seltzer water, baby wipes, & paper towels to get it up. directions are easy:
get a 8-16oz bottle of seltzer water, saturate the stain, let stand for 5-15 min(longer for older stains), scrub with bab wipes,then soak up with paper towels. good luck, just remember peroxide has a bleaching agent in it, that's why people use it to die their hair, if you go that route try a test spot that isn't noticable first.

I got these instructions from a carpet company. This is specifically to treat mustard, so I hope it works for you. There are 2 specific solutions you will need to make, so I gave the ingredients in the directions.
Apply a detergent solution (mix 1/4 tsp clear hand dishwashing detergent with 1 c. warm water). Let sit 3-5 min. Blot with a paper towel. If stain is removed, finish with water rinse, blot, followed with a pad of weighted paper towels. If stain is not removed, continue as follows:
Apply hydrogen peroxide solution (Mix 1/2 c. 3% hydrogen peroxide with 1 tsp household ammonia). Let stand 2-3 hours under a weighted sheet of plastic wrap. (Explanation: Place sheet of kitchen plastic/saran wrap over stain and place anything heavy on top (books, weights) for 2-3 hours.)
Repeat application of hydrogen peroxide solution and dry under weighted plastic wrap until removal is complete.
Once stain is removed, apply water with a damp towel.
Blot. Finish with weighted pad of paper towels.
Apply undiluted white vinegar (only after certain stain is removed).

I suppose the carpet isn't white or light beige?? If it was, I would suggest a bleach solution.
The only home item I know of to try is Resolve.
Best thing, call a professional carpet cleaner. They have things for that, that we can't buy.

Have you tried using baby wipes? They seem to get out EVERYTHING! Just be careful if you have colour in your carpet b/c it will take out the colour, depending what material it's made of. Good Luck!

Oxyclean. It gets everything out the carpet. I however can not use it because i ahve sensitive skin so you may want to wear gloves when you do this. Take the oxyclean and sprinkle it on the stain. Then take a little bit of hot water and pour it on the oxyclean, just enough to make the oxyclean a paste. rub it into the stain then let sit for 10 minutes. Then take more water so the paste turns to a liquid consistancy. Wipe up with a towel. Then vacuum the area. It has worked so many times for us. I even use it to get koolaid stains off of my counter tops. Good luck and hope it works!

I am not sure that this will work, but it works on wine and kool aid. And it doesn't leave a bleach mark or anything. Unless your carpet needs clean, which in my case, did. With four kids. Pour hot water on the mustard, than pour salt on it. Just plain salt. Let it stand for about five minutes, then pour water on it again and soak it up with a towel. Good luck. I hope it works for you.

oxiclean works wonders
There is a product called: Goof off! it's in a can and smells like lighter fluid, but they sell it at carpet stores, it works on everything, i spilled red candle wax on white carpet and it came out with no stain at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried straight white vinegar? You might try oxyclean but be very careful as it can take out the color. I would go with the white vinegar.
