My daughter and I are relocating to Fort Worth (divorce) to be closer to family. I really need a job before I go. Do you think it is possible to obtain a job while living in another city? What are the best places to look for employment? I was looking for something administrative. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have always been able to find a job through the Texas Employment Commission.

Linkedin.com is a great site to look for jobs, and network.

I spoke to a old boss of mine this week, he was my DSM at Radio Shack. He said this was a MUST. He also said that if you have recommendations, you are 3-4 more k]likely to get the just.

Fort Worth should have several promising avenues for employment; I live in Arlington and commute to downtown FW. Search Monster.com or equivalent & see what companies have opeinings. Arlington also is large enough to have some potential depending on what you're looking for. You can make more $$ in Dallas, but the commute related hassles offset that for me...

You might also look into the temp agencies, such as Manpower. They place administrative professionals all around the area and you could end up with a permanent job out of it OR at least have a paycheck while you look for a permanent job.

Why not try the IAAP's (International Association of Administrative Professionals) website for the Ft. Worth area? If you were to reach out to them, I'm sure they would be very helpful.

Good luck!

Check with UT Arlington, or one of the other Universities in the area. Benefits are great! I've worked at UT Arlington for 5 + years and although it was difficult to adjust to working in the educational field....I love it now and wouldn't go back to the cut-throat private sector for anything.
