I know this question has been asked before but does anyone know of a kid safe camera? I just got on my phones pictures and realized I am getting my four year old a camera. It was overloaded with randome pictures. Do you know where I could get them?

What can I do next?

We got our daughter a Fisher Price Kid Tough See Yourself camera. It is really cute because it's clunky enough for her L. hands and it has a rotating lens so the child can turn it to take a pic of him/herself. My daughter and my 2 1/2 year old are pretty rough with it and it still works just fine. It also has a slot for an SD card too.

I got my toddler a "real" camera years ago... and am sooooo glad I did!

1) Cost about the same as a "kid" camera
(NikonCoolPix xmas sale)

2) Takes decent pictures / has decent megapixels
(so it doesn't end up never used in a toybox)

3) Is easy to use

4) Combo of 2+3 (prints decent pictures)

5) Is under warranty / can get repaired EASILY

6) Lasts forever.

We're on year 6 of that nikonCoolPix. $200 camera I got for about $50. And even though it's under warranty/etc., and has definitely been put to the test, it's still working flawlessly.

Kids, in my experience, know the difference between a "toy" that's meant to be beat up, and the real thing. They treat the TVs, DVD players, phones, etc. decently. Ditto real cameras. Toys, otoh, don't get treated decently. It's like sippy cups vs glasses. They throw sippy cups, knock them on the floor, etc. but are careful with real glasses.

So, for myself, I'm a fan of a real camera for little ones.

We had a kid's camera. They don't work well, they're huge and they take horrible pics. And it broke, I have no idea why. Anyway, we bought our daughter a real camera for Christmas. Works great, takes great pics, great reviews and wasn't a big investment:

I bought my 11 year old (at the time) daughter a Fuji Fine Pix waterproof camera. It can go underwater up to 10 feet, so we've used it snorkeling. It is also safe to bring to pool parties or outdoors in the winter, etc. The salesman recommended it as a more durable than average camera as kids are more prone to dropping things. You can look at the photos on your computer, delete the memory card (holds about a thousand photos) and start over, developing only the ones that turn out well.

I bought my granddaughters the fisher price kid tough camera a couple years ago for Christmas. It isn't worth the money. We never could get the pictures to download onto the computer, they were blurry so it had no shakey hand stabilizer and the charges didn't last long. Last year I bought the girls keep kodak digital cameras for christmas for less then I paid for the kids tough. They were 4 at the time and the pictures are so much better.
