So What Happened?

Thank you all so much for taking the time to write and give me advice!!!
After a lot of debate, I decided to go with the cute animal humidifiers from Target because they were affordable and adorable! I'm not too keen on cool mist, since we have an old drafty house, but I'm going to give it a try anyway.
I'd also like to thank all of you that gave me ideas for earning cash. This week I am going to apply to some tutoring services, and if that doesn't work out I may try some of the other ideas suggested.
Thanks again everyone!!!
~K.

K. - try this link - www.ecoquestintl.com/rjnelson - mouse over "air purification" and select "pursonic mister". It's a pretty nice unit that humidifies using oxidation. What's really nice about it is that not only does it create a fresh, clean and humid environment, but it also helps to prevent mold, mildew, and bacteria!!

As for your profile and missing the social side of working and a little extra cash - have you considered in-home parties? I'm a passion parties consultant on the side and love doing it because it gives me an avenue for the adult social time that I need!

Hi K. - I don't have a whole lot of advise for you on the humidifier issues.... but I recently became a sahm also looking for adult interaaction. I have also just become a Independent consultant for Passion Parties, so far I love it!!! I can work when my son (1 year old)is napping and I present for hostess held parties, well when I want to! I make my own schedule I give hostess and guest the dates that I "am available" (meaning these are the days that i want to work) and the rest is open for my family and i to do what ever we like! I am making great money - actually I am making more money that I did when I was working full time and paying a sitter to care for my son!!! Brookstone has a wonderful cool mist humidifyer. It is only sold online or in the catolog. You can but the warm mist in the store, but my doctor recommends the cool. It's about $100, but it is worth it.

I used the Vicks brand with my daughter and it worked great. In your about me you mentioned trying to earn cash while staying home--have you ever heard about the Mary Kay business opportunity?

I have a good one that I don't need. All you would have to do is buy a new filter.

You can also tutor. I am a teacher currently staying at home, and I charge $20/ hour. There are also many companies out there hiring teachers (madated tutoring under no child left behind).
Sorry, I just got the Walgreen's humidifier, I just wanted to share about the tutoring...

I have always returned to the simple vicks steam humidifier. It needs to be kept up high to avoid vapor burns but it is totally safe from bacterial or mold build-up. I found the cool mist ones which are so highly touted to be a constant maintenance headache.

K.,
I bought my daughter a Crane, Ultrasonic humidifier. All you do is add water, there is no filter. We had one with a filter, but we had to keep changing it. It looks like a penquin and it works really well. I bought it at Target.

We have a Venta-Sonic. We got it at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I like it because it blows hot and cold humidity. I can't stand the ones that are just cold. They don't feel like they do anything, except for in summer. In winter it's nice to have hot humidity blowing!

Hello there,

I forget what brand I have but as far as making extra money....If you have a master's degree you could consider teaching online. There are many online schools always looking for adjunct instructors.

I haven't found one that performs any better than any other - you have to make sure you clean/replace the filters on all of them pretty frequently. But I like these, from Target (the animal ones)

Hope that helps!
