Hi Mamas,

We live in Frisco and have some friends who live in Allen. We would like to find a nice park somewhere in between us for play dates. Any suggestions? Just looking for something in a safe area that has a large play ground for the kids. Thanks in advance!!

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for your suggestions! We checked out Celebration Park this weekend and had a great time. We were fortunate that no soccer games were going on because it was the last weekend of spring break. So, the park was quite empty and the kids were able to romp around! I could tell by the size of the park and the number of soccer fields this place would normally be a zoo so we will continue trying other parks that may be less crowded. But, great hit for us this weekend! Thanks so much!

If you have not been to Celebration Park in Allen you must go, I know it is not half way but it is pretty awesome!

We have a great community park with a small splash pad here in McKinney off of Ridge and Eldorado near Elliott Elementary (in Frisco ISD). Ledbetter park in McKinney is nice. I heard there is a sand park near the Fairview shopping center by the Purple Cow (have never been but heard it is pretty neat). Look on City of McKinney's website they have them all listed :)

Celebration park is a little too "busy" for my taste and it is REALLY big when your trying to track down a 3yr old. Dont know how old your kids are but I foun d a great park in mckinney (go to the city web site and under the search just type in park) it brought up a ton. We have been to the Al Ruschhaupt Soccer Complex and it was really nice. It doesnt have woodchips like so many others do, it has AstroTurf grass stuff. This was especially nice since my littlest is 10 months and she could crawl around everywhere her brother played. There is also a lot of shade and a small splash park next to the other playground that I am hoping will be great this summer. Hope this helps a little :)

Personally my favorite in McKinney when my 2 were younger was Finch Park near downtown McKinney. It was shady, had 2 play areas - one for older and one for younger children. It has picnic tables, a volleyball court and now they have added a splash pad - making it popular in the summer time. I tended to take my children during the school day when possible, but we've been there as a family on weekends as well and we all love it. Another nice park is Towne Lake, the one right across from McKinney High School - between Virginia and Eldorado just east of 75. It is also shady, has a nice playground, lots of picnic tables, a good walking trail and lots of ducks to feed.

Celebration Park in Allen is awesome! I know it's probably not in between, but I live in McKinney and just think this is one of the best play parks around
