I am looking for a good OBGYN and hospital to deliver in. We recently moved to Long Beach but I work in Newport Beach. I am not sure about Long Beach Memorial. I don't really like the fact they do not have private rooms. Hoag is also an option. Any recommendations are welcome. Thanks!

Los Alamitos Hospital was great!!!!! I had both my boys there. The hospital is small, so parking for husband and visitors is soooo easy. Dr. Virginia Agnelli was fabulous!! She is so down to earth and fun, she is located directly across the street from the hospital.

I love my OBGYN her name is Celica Chu she is in Los Alamitos right across from Los Alamitos Medical Center, which is also a great hospital for delivery. I recently had a child and she is the best and everyone at the hospital was awesome. Los Alamitos Medical has some private rooms and as long as they are not completely booked they try and have everyone keep a room to their selves.

My OB/GYN is located in Fountain Valley right off Brookhurst at Talbert. Love him. He is out of a couple of hospitals but don't know which as I haven't needed one in 12 years.

Dr. Bustillo ###-###-####

I had two high risk pregnancies and I liked that he was on the cautious side with them.

J.,

So far you have much to choose from which is always better. However, I thought I would put in my two cents as well. :-) I can't say enough about my OB Dr. Linh Nguyen in Fountain Valley. She delivers at Orange Coast Memorial (where I had my son) and at Hoag. I worked at Hoag for years and was leery about OCM but I loved the care I received. Hoag does have a NICU in their new women's pavilion. All rooms are private at Hoag too! Both hospitals are very good, but I do think that Hoag has many more amenities if that is important to you.

Best of luck!

L.

Hi. I live in Long Beach but I grew up in Orange County. I decided to stay with my OBGYN (Dr. Raffo) at Saddleback Women's Hospital right near the Laguna Hills Mall.

It was fantastic - I don't have a single negative thing to say about my doctor or my hospital stay / delivery.

I went to Dr. Charles Moniak - ###-###-####. He was AMAZING and the staff as his office was very comforting and kind!! His office is right by Hoag Hospital. He delivers at Hoag & Fountain Valley Regional (FVR). I delivered at FVR and it was a great expereince. I also took their child birth classes which were so great - see if you can get Cari as a teacher/nurse, she was so great. They took such great care of myself and my son. I had a private room there. Explore your options. Make sure to ask your insurance company or the doctors office that your chose about delivering at Hoag as they are notorious for having billing issues especically with HMO's. That is why that I chose FVR. FVR also have a NICU and Hoag does not.

Hoag is awesome if you are able to deliver there. I delivered at Los Alamitos and really liked the nursing staff but did not have a private post partum room and that was a definite bummer. The rooms at Hoag are large and you get a fancy dinner after you deliver. :)

I delivered at Hoag and had the best nurses ever!! I was in labor 32 hours and stayed for a total of 5 days and I couldnt have asked for better nurses in that time!! I had a really rough labor and delivery with complications and they were great.
My OBGYN is across from Hoag and Her name is Dr Stephanie Ricci and she is with Newport Beach OBGYN. I would recommend her ANYDAY...she was awesome through my pregnancy...and came to visit me a few times while I was in labor. she didnt end up delivering for me because it was 1am and she ahd her young kids with her but her colleague did and she did a great job.
Good Luck and Congrats!

Hi,
I have had Dr. Roya Rakhshani for about three years now and I think she is great. She delivered my two year old. She is located in Fountain Valley. She does deliver at Hoag in Newport. I was going to deliver there but I ended up at Fountain Valley hospital do to the fact I was not going to make it to Newport in time. Having my own room was very important to me to that is why I wanted to have my baby at Hoag they have fairly new rooms. I live in Huntington Beach and I was in Costco when I had to be taken to Fountain Valley hospital quickly. So anyways if I had to refer someone I would definitely refer Dr. Roya Rakhshani. Also stay with Hoag great place and great people. My family doctors are through Hoag. So good Luck with your search!

I had a wonderful OBGYN with HealthCare Partners (Willow and Redondo location) Her name is Tamarah Manning. The challenge is that she is very hard to get in to see, so make your apps. early! I delivered in May at LB Memorial and had a wonderful experience! The nurses were amazing and alhough we didn't pay for a private room (they only have 2 and both were being used) we never had a roomate, so i was private for the 2 nights we were there.
Good Luck!

I delivered at Long Beach Memorial in 2007 and although we initially we requested a private room, we did not get one. It turned out that I did not mind sharing a room at all. I felt that the sharing situation went very smoothly and was not a negative thing at all. What I really liked about LB Memorial were the friendly and attentive staff and most of all, the fact that they have the best Neo-Natal Center in the region. I felt confident that should anything go wrong with the delivery, I was in the right place.

I see no one has mentioned St. Marys in Long Beach. They do not have luxurious rooms or anything but they are ALL PRIVATE ROOMS! I delivered 2 babies there & many friends have delivered there as well & have been very happy. My Mom is a retired ER Nurse & she was very impressed with the care I received there. I do think it's important to be in a hospital with NICU. I had a totally normal pregnancy, then unexpected complications during delivery. My son had to go to NICU for several hours. I was relieved he didn't have to go to another hospital.

As far as doctors, I absolutely LOVE my OBGYN, Dr. Mackovic. She has offices in Long Beach, Lakewood & San Pedro. She can deliver at Long Beach Memorial, St. Marys & a couple others. Her website is www.completewomencare.com

My husband and I are scheduled to deliver our first baby in January at Torrance Memorial. We've been pretty impressed so far with the maternity tour and Newborn Baby Care classes we took. You might want to look into that hospital. I've heard great things and the rooms are very nice.

My OBGYN is Dr. Seth Kogan. I really like him. He's on Willow right around the corner from Long Beach Memorial. He only delivers at LB Memorial.

I delivered there, and the nurses are awesome. I had a wonderful experience. They do try to pair you up with someone who is leaving soon so you have the room to yourself as long as possible. I only stayed one night, and there was no one else in the room overnight. There was someone in the room who left not long after I arrived, and another very nice woman who came in the next morning. They do have 2 private rooms that are available on a first-come, first-served basis. I guess it depends on how busy they are when you deliver.

Hi J.,
I really liked Irvine Regional Hospital. That's where I've had both my girls and I absolutely love their pediatrician, Maureen Downes. She's great. Hoad bought Irvine Regional Hospital and will be closing it for renovations in the next couple of months so I would recommend Hoag. This is an excellent hospital and everyone is very friendly.

Hi J.
Good luck in your endeavors for #2! Long Beach Memorial is one of the TOP hospitals in the nation! They may not be sparkly new like Hoag, but they have some of the best doctors in the country. My sister was born at 25 weeks and is now 25 and getting married next year. They said her chances were slim of surviving the 1st night, but those doctors and nurses never gave up on her. She not only survived but has no adverse affects from her prematurity. Their NICU is top notch. My sisters were both born there, and my niece and nephew were born there as well. The only negative thing is the location. It's in a bad area, but you won't find a better place to deliver (and their OB/Gyns are pioneers in the field) than LB Memorial.

Good luck!
