Hello,
I am looking for a referral to a pediatrician who is relatively close to my home (I live in the San Marcos/Carlsbad region), and someone who supports possible alternatives or variations to giving all baby vaccinations.
La Costa Pediatrics!!! Dr. Bill Hitchcock Awesome. I have 2 boys (3 years old & 9 mo.) and we love Dr. Bill. He also has Dr. Warner is is wonderful as well. We are really happy with the practice and couldn't imagine going anywhere else. He has 2 locations, one in Carlsbad/Encinitas & one in La Jolla. The Carlsbad one is nice because it is rarely busy.

El Camino Peds is great - they're in Encinitas. Dr. Ronald Park is great, he's from El Camino Peds but moved his practice to San Marcos. Not sure about the alternative to vaccines though. Congrats!

We go to Dr. Veronica Naudin with Pediatric Medical Associates near Tri-City Hospital ###-###-####. I have been very happy with her and feel that she gives my boys excellent care. We do not vaccinate and she has been very patient with that, though she encourages me to continue researching vaccinations at every well-child visit. She doesn't jump to giving meds at every opportunity. There are also 3 other doctors in the office, in case your baby is sick and she is not available (we also love Dr. Ng - said "ing"). They have a doctor on call 24 hours if you need to talk to one (we have used this for a couple of midnight sickness troubles). And they have weekend office hours (which we recently used when my youngest had a severe allergic reaction, much better than having to go to the emergency room!). And I would guess they take every insurance under the sun, they take Tricare (military insurance) so that's a good sign.
I don't know if you are planning to circumcise, but she did our first boy's circumcision in the office and did a nice job (relatively little trauma for him, but lots for me!). He was born at home, but if you have a hospital birth, I think they do that before you go home, and it would be whichever doctor is on call, but she says her associates do a good job also.

I worked @ Sharp Healthcare for 10 yrs. Most recently in our Carmel Valley office for the last 2 yrs, there are 3 wonderful peds drs, Drs Brent Rathbun, Michael Martin and David Reynaldo. It is a small office and they are all great, very accomodating and always answer your calls the same day, I am now staying home with my 5 month old son, i have taken all 3 of my children there. We LOVE our pediatrician at La Costa Pediatrics. We go to Dr. Warner who is young and has a 16-mo-old, which is neat b/c he really relates to us. Dr. Hitchcock, the main ped of the group, visited the girls in the hospital (I delivered at Scripps Encinitas), and he was incredible! He's older and very experienced. The staff is great and the Drs. are the best. It makes all the difference to go to a pediatrician you trust. Good luck!
