My husband and I are considering signing up for a prepaid legal service plan. Has anyone have experience with one, or a particular plan they would or would not recommend? Thanks!

What can I do next?

We have one called LegalShield. We got it for daughter. She is using it for her accident. Also going to use it when a situation comes up. She can use it for tickets and she gets 25% off any law firm that accepts it.

I had one through my old company and loved it. It paid off two or three times while we were getting contract work done on our house. Amazing how a letter from an atty can get things moving along! :) It is a nice service to have especially if you feel you will need ongoing legal services. I have thought about getting it again as it is very inexpensive and while I had to pay so much money for my divorce I had wished I had it and got a discount.

I have the Hyatt Legal Plan through my job. It has paid for itself two fold. We decided to get it to get living will, wills and power of attorney's drafted. In January 2008 we got all of that done. In June when the person we designated as the guardian of our child in the event of our death unexpected died. We had to use the plan again to get the items updated. It seems a little pricey per pay period but in relation to what an attorney would charge you hourly.... you cant go wrong.
