My cousin recently started using the Moby Wrap and loves it. She recommended it to me becuase my youngest (2 months) is a "velcro baby". I was just wondering if anyone else has any opinions on this product. Thanks for your input.

What can I do next?

They are nice when you get the hang of them. I preferred slings when mine were small and I love my Ergo now, just easier without all the wrapping ;)

I love my Moby Wrap. I also have a home-made one that I absolutely love too because I was able to pick out exactly what fabric I wanted. The instructions on making one are SO simple. Get a piece of breathable fabric (my home-made one is made out of terrycloth) in a piece that is 60 inches wide by 5 yards long. Cut it in strips that are 20 inches wide. Then, keep one and give the other two away. :) My friend who sews a lot surged the edges but that isn't necessary. He also sewed a decorative button at the center so that it would be easy to locate (the Moby had a tag to indicate the center, but a button is much prettier).

Haven't heard of the sleepy wrap, hug a bub or one of the others mentioned. There are so many brands to choose from and some can be quite pricey. Since your cousin has one, she can show you how to wear it or I would be happy to do that as well. :)

God bless,
A.

I have never tried a Moby Wrap. I have several Maya Wraps (ring slings) I love love love mine. I too have had velcro children and it makes life sooo much easier. I can even sling my 3 year old on my back and sling my 1 year old on the front. It's a bit heavy, but the weight distribution is amazing. Not near the back pain I had with standard in the store front carriers. Plus, mine has a built in cover for nursing and pocket for storing keys, diaper, wipes, money etc. Highly recommend it. Whatever brand of product you choose, I am all in favor of wearing children. They stay more calm and are more secure. Best wishes!

Without ever having used it, I decided not to get the Moby wrap because it just looked way too complicated to tie on. I ended up with a Hotsling that also didn't work out for me. A friend of mine has a new company that sells her own design of a sling. It's at www.wahloo.com Check it out, it's a really comfy product.

I have a hug-a-bub and another knockoff moby wrap that I love. It's a little bit complicated the first time you wrap it, but your cousin can show you how, or you can look at the websites at:

http://www.mobywrap.com/t-instructions.aspx

or

http://www.hugabub.com/flex/tying_the_hugabub/89/1

Also, if you want to save money, you can just go to a fabric store, get stretchy (teeshirt) cotton and cut a long piece-you should look at a moby wrap for dimensions. The knockoff I have is like that and I use it all the time (my baby is 10 months and it's still comfortable.) I like it because it distributes the weight over both shoulders and back rather than a sling, so it's not lopsided. Also, my baby naps very comfortably in it, which allows me to do things around the house, hike, etc. Good luck!

hard to figure out but once you get a handle on it, it's cool. I had trouble using it until I googled MOBY WRAP and watched a 5 minute youtube video of a mom showing how to put it on. now it's great. good luck!

Any type of baby wrap is going to be awesome in my opinion. I have 4 kids, all who have been worn in a sling or wrap. Baby wraps are the most comfortable and vertisile.

we also have an 8 week old 'velcro baby' (& that is the perfect way to describe it!). we have the 'sleepy wrap' & it is very comfortable & easy to use. we thought about the moby wrap...& i don't remember why we chose the sleepy wrap! sorry, but a wrap in general is highly recommended.

I went to the sleepy wrap website and on the FAQs number 10 (http://www.sleepywrap.com/index.php?page=faq#9), it says that the difference b/w a moby wrap and a sleepy wrap is the material. The sleepy wrap is made of a stretchy knit and they say it'll fit your baby and body better. Or something like that... :)

I have a Bebe Papoose which is similar to the moby wrap, but is custom made and cheaper than the moby. You get to choose your own fabric, or you can choose one that is already made if you want it a little faster. If you are interested the website is www.bebepapoose.com. Made by a mom in Ohio. Good luck!
