Moody Toddler

I know all toddlers have big mood shifts throughout the day, but mine has mood shifts that seem to swing every month. One month he's delightful, eating right, hilarious. The next month he's a pill, not eating well, and surly. Teeth can be ruled out because this swinging back and forth has gone on for months, and there's nary a tooth in sight (we're only waiting on two more anyway). He's fed nutritious food, so I don't think it's diet. Do your toddlers moods swing like this, from about month to month? I just start liking him again and then he's driving me nuts.

My two kids same age difference but a year older then yours go through this moody phase every six months at the same time for about a month spam...and I just want to get rid of them. They don't do it every other month. So I would try and see if there is anything bothering him. How long ago did this start. Have you moved, had him change rooms, start school, new job...can you link this moodiness to anything. I think it is normal to have this problem on the occasion like we have every half year but not every month or two. Do you get your quiet/not quiet one on one time with him while the other is napping this is huge in our house.

My kids had mod swings every six months and it coincided with physical growth. When they were growing they were very moody and vise versa. There is not much you can do it you can do about it, but it helps to understand it. Make sure they get enough rest and put them on a schedule and stick to it.

Wow--- I'd surely be looking for SOMETHING that might be affecting your little guy---- is the other child a bit pushy??? -- is there some problem between the 2 boys??? --- have you discussed this with the pediatrician???--- I can't tell you why this is happening- but you do need to find out what is behind it- as it sounds like more trouble than he might otherwise be having with '''just ordinary life''' --

Some kids are just moody and want to "test" your boundaries. My 4-yo is like this right now. She's an absolute angel at church and when she feels like it at home. Other times she's kicking, screeching, slamming doors and altogether argumentative.

Just keep loving him. Don't yell, give him hugs. Be firm in your rules/boundaries or he'll just push harder when you are lax "just this once".

Remember, firm, but gentle, hand.
