Is there a theater that has a mom and baby time? I don't want to take the little guy (5 Months) to a movie unless there is a designated time for mom and baby or something like that b/c he may get loud :)

The Cry Baby matinee is also offered at the Angelika in Dallas, not just the one in Plano. :-)

Cry Baby Theater at the Angelika Theater Center in Plano. Every Thursday at 1:30pm or every Saturday at 11:00am. You can also check your near by AMC Theaters. I know in the summer time that every Wednesday at 10:00am the show a kids movie. It's free to the entire family. Babies invited. Hope this helps.

I just got back from the Crybaby Matinee at the Angelika Plano and I have never felt so out of place. I was the ONLY woman in the show full of businessmen. The volume was NOT lower, the lights were OUT and NO changing table was made available. The Angelika website falsely advertises this showing. When my kids made noise, the men huffed at us and stared. I did NOT feel comfortable nursing and decided to leave. Then the manager told me "you won't get kicked out if your baby cries." Well now I have to worry about getting KICKED OUT? Thanks. Just give me my refund. Horrible experience. I felt like the jerk with the loud kid in the theater.

I think there is childcare inside the NEW Theatre in Southlake Town Square. Check it out!

AMAZING! There is SO MUCH out there for moms. I had never heard of such a thing until reading the responses to your question. Very cool.
What my husband and I do with our son is go to a matinee (less people, and sometimes we're the ONLY people or only share the theater with another dad with a kid or something. We started taking our son about once a month to the movies because we didn't know anyone to babysit him, when he was about your son's age. He's on a pretty predictable schedule (we've worked on that) so we just searched for a matinee that would start a few minutes after naptime. We'd feed him, and the drive to the theater got him relaxed, and then we pull the canopy thing on his infant carrier so it helps keep distractions away. I give him his blanky and stroke his hair and he falls asleep a few minutes before the movie starts. He sleeps through the movie. I think if you plan it right, it's possible to still go out to eat or watch a movie even with the baby in tow. Another thing: we often do the movie tavern so we can eat AND watch the movie because it's kinda pushing it with our boy, to think we're going to do the whole dinner and a movie thing.
If you live near Plano though, I think this Mommy and Me theater is an amazing idea. Good luck
