hallo ladies,
The time is coming for my little princess to turn 1 in March and i would like to get some feedback what is the best place to make it, at home, or in some pizzaria place..Ideas for birthday cake and activities for her and her little guests. We live in North Seattle Area.
i want everything to be really nice, but not to go over budget.

The other question i have is how to teach her drink water and juices. She is still exclusively breastfeeding. Any feedback will be really helpful.

What can I do next?

First b-days are all about the family. They're really more of the "Worlds Second and Best Mother's Day Ever"...the First Mother's Day, being of course, the day you got to meet her & welcome her to the world. So pick a place that's comfy for you and your loved ones. A brunch at your house, or a bbq, or a potluck...whatever kind of event you enjoy most with the people you care about most.

Have a cake, a candle, a camera, and a good time. You've made it through the first year! Congrats!!

Now, if you're NOT making this about your daughter, and you're making it about your friends' children and any nieces and nephews...then look at the age range of THOSE children and set something up appropriate. But if it's about Alexa...just have fun and relax. And make sure you grab a photo of "Frosting Baby Face"!

I am a working mom and I LOVE to go overboard on my kids birthday parties! Themes, Photo-invites (made by me, its a hobby), the works...but I have had to find a balance! :) You cant do everything perfect, right?
I have 2 pieces of advice that I have learned:
1. Have it at a pizza parlor rather than home. They do all the clean up and the cooking!!!! You can leave the party, go home with your little princess, get her down for a nap and relax! Rather than cleanup and entertain guests that just wont leave! :)
2. Get a Cupcake cake! They sell them everywhere (I get mine at Safeway). They are cupcakes that are frosted together to look like a cake. There are endless decorating options, they cost the same as a regular cake, you choose the number of cupcakes (leftovers only if you want:)), and you dont need plates, and you dont have to cut anything!
Good luck, go overboard, eat too much, and have fun!!!!

It would depend on who you will be having. if it is mostly family, I might do it at home where she will be able to take a nap if needed. These things can be over simulating at this age and a pizza place might be too much. Most grocery stores have a free 1st b-day cake. I would get one and have that be just for her to have. strip her down to her diaper and let her have at it. Then have the bath ready to go.

if you are going to have friends over for her, I would limit it to 2 or 3 her age. they do not do a lot of interaction with each other at this age.

If you are going to have a few older kids, have some activities that are geared to entertain them. Coloring is always a good one and some games (bingo, pin the tail, etc.). there are some good games out there, just do a search for kids party games.
