Hello. I take celexa for depression and have taken several things in the past as this is not new for me. I feel as though I am not taking something that is really getting to the heart of my symptoms. My main issues are being incredibly tired, and I sometimes feel like I can get overworked very easy, I have a lot of anxiety. Does anyone have any suggestions for something that seems to help but does not have the horrible sexual side effect?
Thank you ladies!

Welbutrin is commonly prescribed along with Celexa. Take a good B-Complex for energy and anxiety. It really helps.

I was on an anti-depressant for a short time. What I found helped me, as I'm aware of the side affects of anti-depressants, is getting good nutrition into me.

So eat fresh fruits/veggies daily, exercise (this creates endorphins which make people happier), and supplements. A B complex vitamin, multi-vitamin, and calcium magnesium as a starter.

Getting the extra nutrition will help your body get in balance and help with the anxiety.

Hi S.:

Have you spoken to your doctor about your symptoms? Depression is often linked to physical symptoms like exhaustion and feeling overworked easily. If you've been on Celexa a long time maybe you might need something else. I would first get a physical to rule out thyroid issues, and also examinei whether something is going on in your life to exacerbate your symptoms.

I, too, have anxiety and have been on buspar. It helped immensely though I still struggle with having to take medication.

Good luck.

I have had great results with "Bliss" from Market America. It is made of herbs and you take it as you need it. I used to take it every day! I also swear by supplementation and thrive on my customized formula. If you want to know about how to figure out exactly what you need, ask me. There is a web site that offers a Nutri-Physical that I used to identify what my body needed. It is free, but I don't want to push it on you if you aren't receptive.

You can see if the doctor can also put you on welbutrin along with the current meds that you are taking. Unfortunately.it is one of the side effects. After time with the other meds it may get better. My fiancee has dealt with the above issues you have mentioned. Good luck

I was on celexa a few years ago. It snapped me out of it and went right off. I have recently started taking GABA Plus from the Health Hut here-natural remedy. Also too B complex and good multi vit. For anxiety-I chew on ice or Flavor ice, no hot showers(warm) and this has really helped me out like you wouldn`t believe! No nervousness or shakey in a few weeks! Ive also heard great things about St. John`s Wart! Good luck!

I am tired a lot too and am easily rundown. I'm wondering if you have something else going on physically. I have an autoimmune disease. Of course, depression, can cause tiredness, but the statement of tiredness made me wonder. I would bring the tiredness up to your dr. and if you notice any other symptoms which seem out of the ordinary. I hope you feel better soon!

S.,

I would recommend getting a full blood panel to make sure your body isn't low on any vitamins or minerals.

Also, watch what you eat. During my bouts of depression I tend to eat high sugar, fat, and salty foods, but those same foods feed into my exhaustion and depression. I have to force myself to eat better foods.

Saving Dinner by Leanne Ely is a great cook book series. She includes recommendations for side dishes as well as main meals, she includes shopping lists at the beginning of each week and her recipes are really easy to adjust so you have leftovers for lunch the next day.

I also like Meal Patterning by Chris Johnson. He includes a food target that shows which foods are good for you and which foods are bad for your glycemic index.

I can tell you what *didn't* work for me. I was on Effexor and after a year of taking it I was sleeping sooo much it was affecting taking care of my 1 year old. :( I had situational depression so after consulting my Dr decided to stop taking it as the "situation" had gotten better. Had horrible withdrawal even though I stepped down off of it gradually. I was taking Lexapro before that and that seemed to work well but my insurance wouldn't pay much for it. I hope you find something better!

I would make sure and discuss this with your Dr., but Welbutrin worked for me - and I see others here have suggested it as well.
