Sorry I can't help with the child care thing, but I am an RN. My best advice is to go to one on the community colleges for school. Brookhaven and El Centro both have excellent RN programs. They take less time than a 4 year school and they cost WAY less. Once you get working then you can take a brisge program for your BS if you need it. Pay is the same when you start as an RN.

Texas Woman's University has a fabulous nursing school but it is in Denton. Also, Brookhaven College which is part of the Dallas County Community College System has a great nursing program also. Good Luck

I am a mother/nursing student at UTA (well starting this spring) . . . it depends if you want to go the 2 year or 4 year route. . . all programs are pretty competetive but doable if you are dedicated. If you want to go the 2 year route. . . dallas county community college has a fabulous program at several campuses. I finished my pre-requesites at the RIchland College Branch before I transfered to UTA.

For the 2 year route:

There is also UTA in arlington and TCU in fort worth . . I know there are other programs around but these are the only ones I have checked into. . .

Your best bet is to really figure out what kind of time you have to commit and then meet with an advisor at any of the schools to get an idea of their programs and maybe some others in the area. I have found the most friendly people to be Baylor and Brookhaven. If you are looking for encouragement, dont go to the TWU advisors, they are way too busy to be friendly and supportive in my experience and pretty much make you feel like you dont have a chance to get in their school unless you have a billion point GPA!

I wish you the best of luck - it is hard work (especially with a little one) but it is totally worth it!

Unfortunately, I don't know any sitters who are available on Sundays. Most of my sitters are involved in activities at church on Sunday mornings and evenings.

I have heard that El Centro has a wonderful nursing program. One of my daughter's daycare workers has a daughter enrolled in the nursing program there.
