My husband and I just recently moved to Stow, Ohio and need to find a new primary care physician. We have a wonderful pediatrician for our kids so they are covered, but now we need to find someone for us! We are looking for someone who 1. Has a good bedside manner (ie. is willing and able to sit and take the time to talk with you about treatment options, questions, etc. and communicates openly and honestly with you.) 2. Keeps up to date on the latest medications and procedures. 3. Is willing to work with existing specialists that we both have to ensure everyone is on the same page with the treatment plans/health concerns. (this is very important as we both have pre-existing and serious health conditions for which we see outside specialists on a regular basis). 4. Is truly a primary care physician (ie, is not part of a large group practice where you end up seeing every other doctor but him/her 90% of the time) 5. Can usually grant same day appointments when there is severe illness or an emergency (at our current doctor, she's so busy, if one of us gets really sick, they can't always get us a same day appt. even with another doc and we end up going to a med center). 6. Has flexible hours and no long waits in the waiting room (I'm willing to cave on the hours, but can't be stuck sitting for an hour past my appointment time). I know this all seems like a lot to ask, but we really would like some ideas on any physicians you and your families have had good luck with. They can be family practice or general practitioners, I just needed some guidance and thought you Moms out there might know of someone. Any advice would be much appreciated!

So What Happened?

Sorry, everyone, I just saw that Autumn D. posted almost an identical post a couple days earlier. I'd still like your suggestions though if you have the time or someone new wants to respond.

Hi J.

My husband is diabetic. His doctor we all love. Including our three childrne. I hate going to the doctor. But this doctor takes the time. He will show you all the options. He works with you to get what you need through the insurance company. We usally get in within 15 min of our appointmnent. Think he is only open till like 430 is his last appointment.
I love his Hudson office. He has them in Tallmadge, Kent. But we wait the least in Hudson. I think my husband has gotten in on the same day. But he usually don't need to. The doctor even send your RX to the pharmacy electronicly. SO 1 less thing to worry about.

He has helped my husband os much. I mean got him the medication that WORKS. The old doctor was old stand by. This doctor like this isn't working. You need this. He even knows what covered by our RX card.

does his testing in same building. It is so easy.

We love him

Hi J.!

I'm in Solon and we go to Twinsburg Family Medicine. They are part of the Univerisity Health care program and they just opened a new office on, Rt. 82(East Aurora R.). d. They are a pretty big practice of I'd say 8-10 dr.s.We see Dr. Larry Witmere. I know you didn't want a big practice like that but we do see him 90% of the time. If he doesn't have anything open they can always get us in w/one of the other dr.'s w/not much waiting if any. Dr. Erin Hillard and Dr. Bradley Hillard are also dr.s there that are very good. I actually have not seen one I didn't like but Dr. Larry is my favorite! The are also open M-Saturday. I think their only open till 11 on Saturdays o and there's also an urgent care in their new building. My family has been going there for about 8 years now. Their phone # is ###-###-####.

Welcome to Stow!! We may be neighbors..
I love our family doctor. She is right across the Hudson border by the Hudson Cinema. The practice is called Hudson Family Practice and I see Dr. Jekielek. She is down to earth and everyone I have referred to her seems to like her. There is also a male doctor, Dr. Wagner, in the practice. I have also heard good things about him. Let me know if you have any questions about the docs or the Stow area.

Hudson Family Practice, Drs Jekielek and Wagner are great. I normally get get in same day and both are very attentive. I see Dr. Jekielek, but had to see Dr. Wagner once when I hurt my leg and she was on vacation. I'm also in the medical field and have never heard a patient say anything bad about anyone in their office. They are across from Joann Fabric on Darrow Road.

My whole family goes to the Northeast Family Health Center in Tallmadge. They have 5 doctors, but we love them all. Our Main doc is Dr. Dorman. They have same day appointments if you are sick and they are also open on Saturday's for a few hours for walk ins. They do the blood work in the same office. Their pediatrist services and physical therapy services are in the same plaza. When my son was born and in the NICU, our family physician came to the hospital and was very involved. My family goes to this office as well as my husbands family.

My son has a heart condition, about which our doctor and our specialist have excellent contact. I would suggest this practice to anyone who is interested in quality care!

Hi J.! Welcome to Stow! The doctor that my whole family uses is Stow-Kent Family Practice on Graham Road. It is comprised of 2 doctors...one woman, one man, I've been to both and like them both very well. There is also a nurse practicioner that sees patients. I've been with them since my son was born, and they've been very helpful and seem to possess most of the qualitie you are looking for. I've been to those general practices before with like 5 or 6 doctors you never know who you are going to see...and since this is a smaller office I have seen they are helpful. The doctors names are Dr. James Bailey and Dr. Michelle Holmer. I can tell you more about either of them if you need more information. Good luck!
