Nice Umbrella Stroller for Tall People

I am looking for a nice umbrella stroller but that is tall or can make the handles longer for myself who is 5'9" and my husband who is 6'6". I would like something with a little bit of a basket on it to carry stuff. We are going to Disneyworld the end of the month and I have a 3 year old, 19 month old and a 5 month old. So I am taking my double stroller but would like to upgrade my umbrella stroller ($19.99 one) to something a little easier on my back because I have to bend over so far to push it.

What can I do next?

My husband and I are also tall and I discovered a website called tallparents.com that sells an umbrella stroller with adjustable handles. I bought one, and although it is a little pricy I think it was totally worth it to not have to break my back pushing the other one. Hope this helps.

Im 5'10 and my husband is 6' so we looked for something too when my second son was born and we love the double unbrella stroller that we have had for 2 years now!! Its awsome. You have to order it on line thou. The only down side. Just google the name of the company....its inglesina. We use it all the time for my 2 and 3 year old! I think it less than 200 and was shipped for free if I can remember right.

I really like the Chicco capri umbrella stoller, it has a basket, leans back so they can sleep, has a BIG canopy, has swivel wheels, a five point harness, and it comes with a travel bag which is great for airports. It is about $60.00 but worth it.(It has survived my four kids ages 2-7) You can get it at babys r us http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2265744. Then we bought handle adjusters at http://www.happybabyproducts.com/adexhanbar.html for about $25.00. If you are happy with your umbrella stroller you could just buy the handles. Good Luck at Disney.

My husband and I are both very tall also and last year before we went to Disney I bought a Maclaren umbrella stroller and I love it. It was a little pricy (100.00) but it was worth it. It weighs 8lbs or less and has a very nice carring strap that fits comfortably on your shoulder. I chose the bright orange color and never saw anything like it parked at any of Disney's rides. My son was 2 and about 30lbs and now is 3 and is 40lbs and still likes to ride in it. I purchased mine on ebay but Target, Burlington Coat factory and many other websites carry it. They also have double strollers in this brand. Hope this helps!! Have a great trip

Have you tried jogging strollers? My husband is 6'2" and he kicks the wheels of all our strollers but this one. We have an Instep Safari TT and I love it b/c it pushes and steers so easily. They make double models as well. Our single model has a basket underneath, an organizer on the back, cup and "stuff" holder tray by the handlebar and a window in the top of the canopy to see the kids. It also almost fully reclines if kids want to take a nap. Check it out at Amazon. Also, you can buy handle bar extenders at OneStepAhead.com. I haven't tried them, but they look like a good idea to be able to use a stroller you already have.
Good luck!

I am 5'9" and my husband is 6'4" we also and have the same problem. There are handle extenders for sale on the internet but they are about $50. I bought an umbrella stroller at a garage sale for $1, cut off the handles and screwed the handles onto my stroller. It looks funny but has extended the handle length by 5-6", and I can still fold the stoller up. I don't know if that is something you are interested in, but it worked for me. Have fun on your trip.

when our son was born...we bought a chico. my ex-husband is 6'9'' and i'm 5'9'' so we definitely needed a tall one! we tested out ALL sorts of strollers while shopping and the chico with the single handle seemed to fit us very well. we got it at babies r' us...i don't know if there are any newer models out there that are taller...we got ours 3 years ago so there very well could be some "updated" ones by now. just an idea and good luck! have fun at disneyworld!

I do not know who makes it, but I know they make umbrella stollers w/ handles that extend. Try doing a google search under "umbrella strollers handle extension"

I am 5'10" and my husband is 6'0". Believe me I have been there. After struggling with a lot of strollers, one had a sticky wheel, another was bulky we decided that we would invest in a good quality stroller.

We purchased a Maclaren Triumph (the volo has a sling back and triumph has support and two positions for the back). Part of the reason we chose Maclaren over Chicco was the weight limit. My six year old can still ride in the stroller, the limit is 55 lbs, I believe the Chicco was 35 lbs.

The Triumph is light weight and has a strap so I can carry it over my shoulder if I grab a kid and run through the rain. A Maclaren will cost at least $100, but they last forever, and they stand behind their products- a friend had hers replaced after years of use. Good luck.

I'm not much help with the umbrella stroller issue, but I do know that Disneyworld rents strollers to thier guests. When our son was four we went to Disneyworld and found this little treasure! They would rent strollers for $1 a day and if you took the stroller back to the rental place at the end of the day they gave your $1 back. It maybe more to rent them now because it was several years ago. They had single and double strollers available to rent, plus it may keep you from having to travel with two strollers.

My favorite umbrella stroller is the Maclaren Volo. It's not made specifically for tall people, but it's sturdy, with a basket and very light. Check it out. http://www.tinyride.com/Maclaren-Volo-Stroller-2008-P2620...

Try www.tallparents.com

They have an umbrella stroller with extendable handles but it didn't look to have the basket.

I like the McClaren Volo, it's more expensive, but I think it's worth the extra money. I'm not particularly tall, but I read a lot of reviews on it and have seen that taller folks like it as well. It's also extremely light and durable.

Hi M.,

I had the same problem with the umbrella strollers....I'm 5'11 and it drove me nuts pushing these short strollers... I did however find a great umbrella stroller.. Its the MacLaren brand... Any of the umbrella strollers they have are great. A little more pricey but well worth it... Good Luck

Maclaren's are taller than average, as are Chicos, but Graco just came out with a great one that is nice and tall but has all the bells and whistles of a travel system stroller. Check out a Babie R Us. Just saw it a few weeks ago when I helped my sister in law register and her husband is over 6'6". Good luck!

Babies R Us is always a good place to find what you need. I've been told they have handle extensions for those umbrella strollers and you can always get a net/bag to attatch to it for storage. Good luck and have fun!

Hi M., I recently watched a show where a family took their 8 kids to Disney World and they raved about how great the strollers they have at the park were and I've heard that same thing from people I know that have gone to the park as well. They're supposed to be very light weight and very easy to drive and they have double and single strollers. You probably have to rent them but just a thought...one less thing to have to try to pack when I'm sure you have enough to deal with having 3 small children...hats off to you for taking a trip with them all! Hope you have a great trip.
